Special effects have gotten really good, but I have a doubt. Doing a "mermaid," it's really difficult to make the fishy tail part not look like it's just a costume starting at the waist. Ideally the fish part should blend smoothly into the human part, and there shouldn't be a sharply defined "belt" at the junction.

There's a short story by Peter S. Beagle where a Mer-Man gives a sailor the recipe for this magic wine as a reward for saving him, and it turns the sailor's wife into a mermaid, and she's...not quite Creature From The Black Lagoon, but is a little more fishy than The Deep.

More importantly, why is her bra or whatever the fuck it is that mermaids cover their boobs with not made of seashells?

Mermaid boobs are to be covered with oyster shells or not at all!

Has anyone here pointed out yet that Ariel’s fins are on a plane with her shoulders and she swims using thrusts ‘up and down’ from her prone torso… like a dolphin, whale or manatee and not perpendicular and ‘side to side’ like a fish so having scales is just completely ridiculous?

This is definitely how a normal conversation works. And then everyone stood up and clapped and spontaneously recited the pledge of allegiance.

I honestly prefer it when they don't recast established characters as a different race after they've existed for years, or in this case for 170.

Is it a deal breaker? No. And sometimes it works out great. But in this case I wouldn't be going to see this in the first place.

I think it better if they spent the resources and time to introduce new characters. Have Ariel guest star in Halle's new Mermaid story. Then if it's successful franchise from there.

Though if this is not that same Ariel, but a different Mermaid with that name telling a new story that would be fine.

Black Superman? Meh. Sorry, not my idea of the character.

Icon? Hell yeah. Great character that among all the endless superhero movies out there would make a great addition. He is clearly a pastiche of Superman but with his own identity and written from the beginning in that manner.

John Stewart Green Lantern is actually now my preferred Green Lantern. Milo Morales in Into the Spiderverse was fantastic. Love Falcon becoming Capt America, and the story about what that meant for a black man was profound.

Except that Superman is a re-skinning of Hugo Danner from "Gladiator" who's a re-skinning of Hercules, who you can probably trace back to a dude in a cave painting.

There's no way of knowing what if any antecedents were used in the creation of Heracles (the original Greek). Herodotus thought it might be the Egyptian God Shu or the Phoenician God Melqart. Regardless it doesn't really matter that much - the character of Superman is distinct from any of them by this point. Hell, John Carter of Mars is just as much an inspiration to Siegel and Schuster as Danner - and he was a Confederate calvary officer. Probably don't want to go there. Though I suppose that's exactly where the Boys went. LOL.

Don't hate on Little Mermaid 2023 because the lead is Black.

Hate on Little Mermaid 2023 because every single one of Disney's live-action remakes thus far has been a disappointment, and this likely will be too.

    Don't you see?
Traditional animation isn't a legitimate artform, it only existed because those poor cavemen didn't have CGI!

I liked Aladdin as well. I wanted to like Beauty and the Beast, because of Emma Watson, but it wasn't all that great, because of Emma Watson.

Racist cunt has a meltdown because black kids have a role model.

Also claims blacks are trying to erase white history.

Because white people used to be half fish.

It's too bad Disney didn't go woke years ago. They could've cast Selina Gomez in "Beauty & the Beast." Think of the money they could've made on Taco Belle tie-ins.

    They gave her red hair.
The CHUD complaints were about the hair right?
    Okay then, issue resolved!
