That Fetterman Oz race is going to be a nail biter. It’s interesting that the media, after telling us for a long time that debates don’t matter, is now convinced that someone’s fitness for office comes down to debate performance. I’m also leery of all these supposed ‘undecided’ voters in PA. We’re talking about two completely different candidates who agree on next to nothing.

I typically put the undecided voter in one of two buckets. Bucket one is the partisan who enjoys the novelty of calling themselves an independent. Bucket two is people who are just stupid. Like, “well sure I agree with his positions on everything, but I think the other guy looks more presidential.”

Yeah, I listened to that yesterday. He was on fire.

During his presidency, I think he felt he had to be as conciliatory as possible, because as a Black man he would be given very little leeway. It's nice to see him let loose a little.

Regarding Florida I’ve been talking about this for awhile. All those aggrieved Baby Boomer Midwesterners bought retirement homes in Southwest and Central Florida. And the New York to Miami pipeline is not as strong as it once was. Couple this with the massive propaganda on Latino radio stations and you have a whole host of people who want to tell you how Democrats=Communists. When you thought Florida couldn’t get any more bizarro it manages to.

For anyone not familiar with Michigan's Proposal 3, it's a pretty straightforward codification of Roe v. Wade into the state constitution.

I drove past no less than three billboards today claiming that it's intended to allow sex-change operations and sterilization surgeries on minors without parental consent.

The American conservative movement has not a single shred of honesty left in it.

It really doesn't. Here in Wisconsin, there's a superpac calling itself The Truth Pac and making the same claims Ron Johnson's campaign is in trouble of running because it's all outright lies.

In Omaha, can't remember the politician, but essentially the same thing - all lies.

That Marxist Bible is the New Testament, Hersh. I know you GOP cunts ain't keen on it, but it's the Word O' God anyhoo.

Perhaps TLS will chip in here and prove me wrong.

If he isn't too busy judging lest he be judged.

But I have an inkling he likes being judged. Judged hard.

Wonkette has done some interesting reporting on how, despite all signs pointing to the election being extremely close, the allegedly liberal mainstream media is going all-in with the "red wave!" narrative.

First, it appears that Republican polling outlets are making a concerted effort to "flood the zone" to control the narrative in the last few weeks of the campaign:

'Red Wave' Narrative May Be Built On Crap Polling? Color Us Shocked.

In the final weeks of the 2022 midterm campaign, national polling averages appear to show a number of close races for the House and Senate tilting toward likely Republican wins. Very serious analysis pieces attempt to explain what's going on in the national mood — maybe it's Republicans deciding to stick with their party as the election gets nearer? People getting tired of hearing about abortion rights? Anger over declining gas prices, maybe?

Or perhaps the polling averages are being skewed by a lot of garbage data from GOP-friendly polling groups that have injected polling results that don't have much to do with actual voter opinion. Democratic strategist Simon Rosenberg notes on Twitter that there appears to be a "ferocious" GOP effort to "flood the zone with their polls, game the averages, declare the election is tipping to them." He says that while it's entirely possible for Republicans to win in many of the elections next weeks, the polling and early turnout numbers so far suggest there's not really any sudden shift to the GOP — especially not if there's strong turnout by young voters.

Rosenberg warned Sunday that media organizations are being "played" if they uncritically report polling averages like those from FiveThirtyEight and RealClearPolitics, given the number of GOP-aligned polls being added in recent weeks in key states.

... It's not just Rosenberg, either; Tom Bonier, CEO of Progressive data firm TargetSmart, pointed out Friday that an "avalanche" of GOP polling — some relying on an "older, whiter, more male" sample of voters than in the actual electorate — was making it look like Republicans were moving ahead.

    Link

    And then:

New York Times Will Have Its Red Wave If It Has To Make It Up Itself!

The New York Times sure knows how to be counterintuitive — to the point of not making any damn sense at all. For instance, in a story last Thursday on polling the Times and Siena College conducted in "four archetypal swing districts," the second paragraph soberly proclaims that the polling "offers fresh evidence that Republicans are poised to retake Congress this fall as the party dominated among voters who care most about the economy."

That sure sounds like bad news for Democrats, especially in those four bellwether districts. At least it sounds like bad news until you get to the third paragraph, which notes that the actual polling results show the Democratic candidates "were still tied or ahead in all four districts — three of which were carried by Mr. Biden in 2020."

    Link

This on top of Politico's headline that I posted earlier, where Patty Murray being ahead by eight points actually means she's losing.

Lesson: Republicans are very, very good at "working the refs" and making the media dance to their tune.

    This.

Many of them bend over backwards to avoid appearing biased toward the left and end up distorting things the other way.

And it's not that the press is liberal as much as they are another word that starts with L: lazy.

You want a civil war? Because this is how you get a civil war. Even if Dems have blowouts in elections where they could be expected to, this will allow the nutters to rile up the QAnoners into thinking that every election a Dem was was stolen and start shooting.

Watching Morning Meltdown with Mika & Joe. They're off the rails everyday, but as we draw closer to next Tuesday they're throwing it all against the wall in the hopes that something sticks. Mika is almost crying. Very entertaining.

America First isn't part of the uni-party. I'd definitely vote for Tudor. Great body on her too.

The scoreboard is all that matters. However, I am glad that no one is letting the dems slide on laziness. Younger people tend to blow things off if they think they do not need to do them, so keep the imperative there to vote. There seem to be some good guesses/reasoning as to why the polls might be wrong, and I hope that is true. I think the idea the dems are losing should fire up the dems considering the god awful the reps are being.

Just because I know you are around now and will be running for the hills if the red wave is an illusion, remember we will all be fucking laughing at you while you are hiding in your hole. However, if there is a red wave you can bet I will still be here as long as I am alive so come on in to gloat so I can insult you and laugh at you anyway because I am still quite alive and well, and republicans are not changing that.

Oh, and the kiddos like me a lot more than your touchy, feely, groomer ass.

does that bother you? you do know there is nothing wrong with being adored by the youth. I am not sure what sort of projection you have in your mind due to how you would abuse children if they were not creeped out by you, but some of us make children smile and laugh instead of scream and run away like happens to you.

I would say I feel sorry for your predicament, but it is a good defense mechanism. The less time children spend with religious people the lest they will be molested. That is statistically factual.

I am pretty sure no one thinks that, even you. It is good when your insult has some basis or relation to reality. Even Hershel Walker would cringe at that word fumble.

    Do better.
