It doesn't work when you try to order around highly specialized workers who get paid enough for an in-demand skill that they can afford to be unemployed for brief periods. All the more reason for retail to push against raising the minimum wage or doing anything about the high cost of college.

In the case of SpaceX there's also Gwynne Shotwell running the company very competently, and making sure that they can still meet all their financial and contractual requirements.

This is not going to play out in a couple of weeks, no matter what your hate-boner for Musk might hope for. We'll see what the staffing, advertisers and membership looks like in a year.

The way I see it, either the screechbags lose their echo chamber of biased policy enforcement, or the platform itself goes completely tits-up. Either way, I get a couple of free giggles and then nothing substantially changes for me.

Twitter is just the latest example of the failings of social media. There just isn't anyway to have a bastion of uninhibited speech without the assholes taking over the way bikers find a bar and run everyone else out. It's not a good statement about human nature.

I think the funniest thing that could happen with Musk and Trump now is if Trump resumed using his Twitter account, but only to post urls linking to his TruthSocial posts. No explanations, no descriptions or anything, just a stream of links taking traffic elsewhere.
