The nature of our electric grid is that our electricity comes from a wide variety of sources and the end user has no way of saying "when I plug in this particular thing, I want all the electricity that goes into it to come from a windmill," thus rendering this meme ... well, pretty much just dumb.

But, hey ... you think of electric vehicles as a thing that liberals like, and your tribe demands that you be anti-liberal, so I guess that's more important than logic.

Not to mention that when loads are low a power plant doesn’t just just say ‘Alright boys, guess we’re done for the day, we’ll call you back when we need you in the morning’ and shut it all down. It is more efficient to just keep it running even if it means that at times you have to pay someone to take the power.

By charging at night electric car users actually help the system run more efficiently by ‘load leveling’ (energy is expended during the day when power is most in demand and then stored at night when in least demand).

If we can get batteries efficient enough and in enough houses and businesses this can actually make a dent especially in areas with high demand. Imagine that you are in Phoenix with solar panels and a decent battery. You sell to the grid during the day when power is most in demand (and expensive) and then charge up at night when it cheap/free/they pay you.

Not remotely true. Even at 100% coal-based electricity, after 80,000 miles, electric cars still cause lower cumulative emissions than internal combustion.

Not net zero though.
