Oh sure, Velma just took the top spot for crap television and Kurtzman isn't even involved. Congratulations.
All of the other stuff in your dopey rant rides on this being a thing. This is all that matters. Is "Velma" canon? No? It's an Elseworld? Okay, then you're done. She can be a hack riding the popularity of blah blah blah all day long, and it won't hurt the originals. So why blow a vein in your head out over it? May as well shriek over the inaccuracies in the porn parodies.
Sure it was, kiddo. Granted, being a Warner Bros property, there's a very real chance that the classic Scooby Doo may very well be scuttled and memory hole'd in the near future, but in most cases a reboot or remake doesn't erase the original thing. TNG didn't erase TOS and the subsequent Trek shows didn't erase TNG. Most people agree that this show sucks, but saying it ruined your childhood? Bruh, your childhood happened already and even for you, junior high was a long time ago. Touch grass.
I grew up watching the original first runs in the 70s. It was always among my least favorite cartoons to watch, but with three channels there wasn't much choice. I took my kids to the 2002 live-action movie at a drive-in when they were little, but that's the last Scooby-doo I've seen. I very much liked Linda Cardellini (Velma) a few years later in Mad Men, though.
"sure it was, kiddo" also applies to the pre laff o lympics Scooby being part of his childhood. Fed is definitely of the Scrappy generation. Come to think of it, so is Mindy Kalin. So sorry, sunshine. this is your generation's Scooby-verse.
Not to get too "Old man yells at cloud," but when we were growing up there were effectively three channels and no such things as videotapes/DVDs/streaming video. Under those circumstances, I can see someone watching crappy TV for lack of choice (even though "turn the TV off and go play or read a book" was always a choice). Now, when basically every show ever created is accessible, and there's a constant stream of new content being made, I will never get why someone will waste time or pixels complaining about a show that they don't watch or care about. Is it just a sense of entitlement that every conceivable program should be for you? Or is it that bad TV anywhere is a threat to good TV everywhere?
I don't have to blow a vein to dislike terrible hackey garbage that gets greenlit when decent shit gets canceled. There is a broad range to my contempt.
Afraid not, given that I'm a middle aged white guy that card isn't playable in this round. nice strawman/tu quoque attempt tho, eh? too bad ya hosed yersilf.
Those are all adult themed shows with an adult audience. Velma was not in their demo, so there was no consideration to replace them with shows for tweens or lower especially considering no one in Velma's target demo pays the netflix description. But we all know the real reason the whining is going on, and it is because Velma is a brown lesbian. Fact is that if Velma were drawn with a lighter shade within the white skin spectrum FF and UA would never complain about it. There would not even be a remote chance it would even be on their radar.
This is supposed to be an Elseworlds prequel, so I'm morbidly fascinated by how we get from here to Scooby-Doo. Somehow, Norville goes from teetotaler to pothead, and gets the nickname Shaggy. Somehow, they get Scooby. Somehow, they get the Mystery Machine. And somehow, an unreliable narrator tells Hanna Barbera that Velma and Shaggy are white. Is it Fred? Is Fred the racist?
As for proof, Netflix has wasted a bunch of money on something called glitter force. Are either of these two liars bothered that their shows got cancelled for an almost universally hated dub of a very popolar Anime series called pretty cure? According to liar @Bill Carson he cares because Netflix cancels his shows for shit, but this never came up despite netflix leaping out and outbidding other anime distros to capture the rights for these series. Then to give it to Animation mangler Saban, one of the worst ever Dubbing companies in history. Of course these two liars never ever gave a fuck because there are no black girls in the shows because anime does not really do that. They spent a lot more on glitter force than Velma, and the only people who cared were those of us denied a good sub and dub while we wait for Saban and Netflix to lose or sell the rights. Really, FF and UA were never going to watch Velma anyway. Why does it matter at all to guys who were never ever going to be bothered with it? That is because any representation of black people pisses off racists like them. They hate to see black people, and they hate for anyone else to see them as anything other than a token like diamond or silk.
I'm sure if they were adults in the 70's-80's, they would have been writing screamy letters on an old ribbon typewriter about how "The Wiz" was "mutilating a classic".
Gotta stop you there. Velma is HBOMax. Nothing the existence or non-existence of that show does has anything to do with Netflix. Or Fox, or NBC.
Sure. It's okay to admit you love him. I won't judge. I mean, he will, but that's a whole other thing.
It is sad that Americans are still so racist and homophobic that this show won't get the chance it deserves.
Also, on a totally unrelated note, I'm working on a poem and I'm stumped for a phrase that rhymes with "get woke."
Along these lines you are going, I think the days of being able to put out crap and throw some gay spice in it to make money are over. Inclusivity in retro intellectual properties might actually still be a thing, but I would say do it well because there is plenty of new property coming out. As for Velma, does this at least have some she-ra or MLP qualities that make it worth watching. I am not talking about action, but a fun story and maybe some surprises? or is this just one of these transition to a plot based cartoon from stuff like masha and the bear?
