F LDS leader. I definitely have issues with Salt Lake but the FLDS is a separate org from the LDS.

Oh, the internet is slipping as I haven’t seen any variations of this meme crop up in relation to the firings.

Stop the presses! Guess who else has been fired from Fox News! Lara Trump!

    https://twitter.com/EricTrump/status/1650536559488245761?s=20

I saw where someone speculated that at least part of the firings have to do with Fox renegotiating the carriage fees from cable companies either later this year or next year. The hope is that by doing so, Rupert can get more money out of the cable companies since they've gotten rid of some of the on-air loonies. "See? We're not crazy, unlike the folks over at Onan News, so give us more money." And they need those fees, as they make more from those than they do ads.

Equally important: When does he resurface? His contract with Fox was supposed to be renewed at the end of this year (and the plan was to keep him signed until 2029) that's out the window now. Fox is, reportedly, going to pay Tucker until the end of his contract. Usually, those contracts all have a couple of boilerplate clauses:
1.) If you publicly say anything disparaging about the company, you're fired, and they don't have to pay out your contract. (Don Lemon has supposedly violated this by what he's done since he got fired.)
2.) You cannot work for anyone else, in a similar position, until your contract runs out, if you want to get paid. So, him doing a commentary job, a reporter, a paid spokesman, and probably even being an actor in a movie, are all off the table until his contract's over.

So, what's going to happen? Is Fox, which can say just about anything they want about Tucker, going to try to piss Tucker off so that he says something nasty about them and they no longer have to pay him? I wouldn't put it past Rupert. After all, you don't get to be a billionaire without screwing people out of money whenever you have the chance. Or is Tucker going to realize that he might very well have a short-shelf life if he's not on the air constantly and take another job, thus ending his contract?

I don't know. I wouldn't be surprised though if whenever he resurfaces, he goes the Glenn Beck route and strikes out on his own, rather than work for someone else. If some of the outlets like Onan News go under as the result of the Dominion and other lawsuits, that'd probably be his best option, since there is unlikely to be anyone outside of Fox who can, or is willing, to pay him a large chunk of change. (Spotify, BTW, has previously announced that they're not going to be spending as much on original content as they have been, so they may not want to throw lots of money at him. Also not sure if he has much of an international audience, unlike Rogan.) So, he might make the same amount doing it on his own as he would working for Onan or whomever, but he'd have absolute control of the program which isn't something that he'd get working for anyone else.

Olbermann spends a chunk of this podcast episode talking about the other shit that got Carlson fired, as well as the contract rules he's likely under. (As well as Olbermann's experience with similar restrictions. Spoiler alert, he kept his mouth shut and pocketed the money.)

I saw a report that Fox is saying the firing was “For Cause” so they can stiff him out of a severance package. I’m not sure that really means much if he was at the end of his contract, but it would be interesting, especially if he sues Fox for…whatever…

Interestingly, the stories suggesting this also claim the Murdochs are intending to sell FOX News off, and getting rid of Tucker's big paycheck helps make that more attractive.

But who'd buy it? The Kochs? Trump? Elon?

There are billionaires who can afford it or put together a group like is sometimes done for sports teams. Most of the super-rich right wing assholes are people you never heard of. How many people knew who Harlan Crow was a month ago?

You're not wrong, but the phrasing as a "Jew bakery"leaves a lot to be desired.

This being Fox, I'm sure they did antisemitism in far worse ways, however

I’m thinking we should start a campaign to get Carlson to run for President.

What will primary voters do when forced to choose between their favorite president and their favorite talking head?

I saw a report that said tucker is getting his contract paid out which probably means he cannot speak poorly of them without losing 20 mil over the next two years or less. It supposedly won't stop him from working elsewhere, but it might keep him from personally pushing for boycotts and protests of faux news from another venue. None of it seems to be reliable with a good source, and almost everything seems to be guessing and drama llamaing.

Translation: He is self aware, off the chain, and is starting his cult. This may be very very bad. Tucker might have the psychological chops to actually wield his audience as a weapon.

It does remain to be seen that he can capitalize on it, but that is him saying he is going to try to be the biggest influencer.

He knows his audience. He knows their hate. He knows they will follow him. This is a lot worse than trump because Tucker is a white christian supremacist. All he has to do is steal Trump's thunder and he will be the fascist rebel voice.

I am going to savor the nice things of the world over the next few months. This guy is bad fucking news.

NY Times is reporting that it was several things, but the breaking point wasn't even when he called the CEO of Fox News, Suzanne Scott, a cunt in his private text messages.

It was when the Fox lawyers came and told him that they could get that messaged redacted, and he said, no, leave it open, I want everyone to know what I think about her.

Yeah, that would do it. LOL.

I never paid any attention to any Fox News correspondence except Shepard Smith and that was only for the eye candy, but Carlson angered me when you parroted trump and vilified military personal for ... something, I don't remember now, but I still think he's a piece of shit and can burn in hell for all I care
