Graham Linehan has fallen so far. Going by @glinner on Twitter, he has engaged in non-stop harassment of trans people, and not just limited to Twitter. He joins LGBTQ+ sites and posts as a trans woman, and so many of those sites have banned him, and yet he continues to screech unhinged that trans people are a threat to everyone. He's utterly disgusting.

He was banned from Twitter once for harassment but Elon brought him back (of course), and to top it all off, he just recently posted someone's private post-op trans surgery picture, explicit nudity and all, without their permission. We're mass reporting him, but considering Elon's position on trans people, I don't expect anything to happen, or even if it does, that it might stick. This is on top of the thousands of messages trans people are getting every day from these assholes. Certainly while many of them are bigots venting at us for existing, some of them are actively causing real and present harm.

I'm hoping Blue Sky starts sending out invites to all of us, soon. So far they've had no tolerance for that horseshit, and I'd like to find a place where I don't have to see a dozen death threats every day, or demands that I kill myself to clean the gene pool. :/

In Mississippi a gender-nonconforming girl was told to walk in her underwear because she’d come to the graduation wearing pants. Earlier a trans girl decided to skip the same ceremony because she was instructed to dress as a boy by school officials.

The girl is being represented by the ACLU, but late last week a judge turned down a request that she be allowed to graduate in a dress, following the girls’ dress code. L. B. decided not to attend the graduation under these humiliating circumstances.

However, a local outlet is reporting that another student in the same school also missed walking in her graduation due to the dress code. This time it was a gender-nonconforming girl who showed up in pants and a white shirt. This student had no prior warning that her clothing was unacceptable in the hours leading up to the ceremony and was instead pulled from the line at the last minute and told that wearing pants wasn’t acceptable. The solution reportedly suggested by the school was that she remove the pants and walk for her high school graduation in her underwear.

When considering the anti-trans movement in America it’s important to ask if the rhetoric matches the outcomes. The rhetoric of just-asking-questions or having a few reasable concerns has not resulted in greater protections for children, whether they’re cisgender, transgender, or gender nonconformng. Bans on trans girls in athletics opens the door for genital inspections performed on young girls, if their identities happen to be challenged for any reason. Questions about medical treatment have resulted in draconic bans on all gender-affirming care, mandating that children who have lived happily in their gender for years undergo a dangerous, destabilizing state-mandated detransition. Loving parents are facing child abuse investigations.

The story in Mississippi is representative of the reality of the reactionary anti-trans backlash. A figleaf that gestured at the ideal of protecting kids from harm has fueled a moral panic which results in singling young people out for humiliation to enforce regressive dress codes. As has been long anticipated by the trans community, gender-nonconforming girls are particularly likely to be singled out and made an example of, alongside transgender people of all gender identities. If the anti-trans movement was what it depicted itself as, none of this would be happening. None of this should be happening. Trans and gender-nonconorming youth deserve to experience normal childhoods, not ones where adults mark them for humiliation and work to deprive them of self-esteem and dignity.

Her grandmother, Michelle Faison, traveled 800 miles to see her graduate.

“I don’t understand how this, a moment this important, can be taken away from a child that’s worked 12 years to get here,” Faison said.

Her sister, Raniah Braclet, graduated from Harrison Central three years ago and said she can’t believe what’s happening.

“When I graduated, I was proud to come from Harrison Central, but I just don’t know what this is today,” she said. “That was a very awful experience to see my sister not be able to graduate from where I graduated from.”

Caren Dallas says she plans to be at her daughter’s school first thing Monday morning in search of answers.

As for L.B., she says she’ll never stop fighting for what she feels is right.

WLOX contacted King for comment on the issues Sunday.

Ohio says to Florida, "hold my beer," now trying to push through a transgender bathroom ban in all schools and universities.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – More than 20 Ohio House Republicans signed onto new legislation that would block transgender students from using school bathrooms or locker rooms that align with their assumed gender identity.

The bill, introduced Tuesday, marks House Republicans’ latest legislative attack on transgender Ohioans. Earlier this month, a House committee passed legislation that would block transgender students from competing in women’s sports. A different House committee is reviewing legislation that would block physicians from prescribing various gender affirming care treatments for transgender minors.

House Bill 183 would apply to both K-12 schools and colleges. It requires them to segregate locker rooms, bathrooms, showers, and similar facilities by “biological sex,” as determined by one’s birth certificate. Schools would not be allowed to permit transgender students into the facilities designated for their assumed gender identity. K-12 students also would not be allowed to share overnight accommodations with a member of the opposite biological sex.

The legislation would still permit schools to allow transgender students to use single-occupancy facilities. It was sponsored by GOP Reps. Beth Lear, of Galena, and Adam Bird, of New Richmond.

The Ohio action is a piece of a larger GOP mobilization against transgender rights. Dozens of Republican states have passed bills aimed at transgender athletes, transgender minors seeking care, and transgender students’ bathroom use. Congressional Republicans passed a transgender athletes ban as well in April, although the legislation is likely to die in a Democratic controlled White House and U.S. Senate.

HB183 has not yet been assigned to committee.

Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer have reached out to the bill’s sponsors, along with the ACLU, which has opposed similar measures in court.

This marks the first time lawmakers have introduced a “bathroom bill” in Ohio, according to Kathryn Poe, a spokesperson for Equality Ohio, which advocates for LGBTQ rights. Poe said this marks the latest showing of conservative lawmakers’ inability to “mind their own business” instead of “surveilling” public spaces.

“I think that our lawmakers have just decided to get on this national bandwagon of hate,” Poe said. “This bill is just a continued attack on trans youth.”

In 2016, a since-retired Ohio House Republican floated the concept of introducing a transgender bathroom ban, claiming it would be a public safety measure to “prevent sexual predators from posing as transgender.” He never formally introduced the idea, which emerged as a rash of Republican-controlled states followed the lead of North Carolina and began to introduce similar “bathroom bills.” (Only North Carolina’s passed that year, according to NBC News.)

Outside the statehouse, a federal court in Ohio is reviewing a lawsuit brought by students and parents against Bethel Local District School, a deeply conservative township near Cincinnati. There, the school board deemed that federal law required it to allow transgender students to use the bathroom of their assumed gender identity. Some Christian and Muslim plaintiffs alleged the policy violates their rights to free exercise of religion. Nonreligious plaintiffs joined them as well.

The ACLU moved to intervene in the case on behalf of a 14-year-old transgender girl, arguing the court’s ruling would inevitably impact her in a “deeply personal, tangible, and potentially harmful” manner. They argued that ruling for the plaintiffs would in effect endorse a stigmatizing message that there’s something inherently wrong with transgender students.

The lawsuit is ongoing.

Sacked anti-trans teacher Joshua Sutcliffe claims ‘all sin deserves the death penalty’

Former teacher Joshua Sutcliffe, who was banned from the profession following a series of allegations regarding misconduct, has said “all sin deserves the death penalty”.

During a segment on Piers Morgan’s TalkTV show, Uncensored, on Tuesday (22 May), Sutcliffe spoke about his advocacy against abortion rights and his devotion to biblical teachings.

Questioning Sutcliffe’s reliance on the scriptures, Morgan said: “Well, the Bible also teaches to stone people to death but we don’t do that in civilised places any more.”

Sutcliffe replied: “Well, that’s the penalty for sin, Piers.”

Morgan pushed a bit further, asking: “You think it’s right to stone people to death?”

To which the former teacher responded: “I think that all sin deserves the death penalty. Jesus died on the cross for sinners.” He then confirmed that he views adultery as a sin.

“All sin is punishable by death,” he added, to which the TV host replied: “That’s nuts, mate”.

Sutcliffe was barred for life from working in English schools after a ruling by the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) found him guilty of unacceptable conduct.

He refused to refer to a transgender student by their preferred pronouns in class, and also appeared on ITV show This Morning, where he again misgendered the child, which the TRA found “made it likely” that the pupil could have been identified.

The former maths teacher was also found to have expressed his views against same-sex marriage when asked by a pupil, as well as allegedly encouraging pupils to watch “inappropriate” videos about masculinity.

The misconduct panel also heard he shared videos on his YouTube channel, in which he claimed Muslims have a “false understanding of God” and that Muhammad was a “false prophet”.

The TRA upheld a number of allegations but claims he encouraged pupils to watch a video about false prophets were “not proven”.

The panel found he “failed to treat his pupils with dignity or to build relationships rooted in mutual respect” and “failed to have regard for the need to safeguard his pupils’ well-being”.

Sutcliffe is said to be determined to appeal the ruling.

During the Talk TV interview, Morgan said he agreed with Sutcliffe’s views on pronouns as he has “a big concern about the number of kids who are putting their hands up and saying: ‘I’m a man, I’m a woman’, when they’re not”.

Referring to Sutcliffe’s belief that all sin is punishable by the death penalty, Morgan said: “There’s no one left, there’s only you left, and I don’t feel comfortable about a world with only Joshua Sutcliffe alive.”

Morgan, who stepped down as anchor man of Good Morning Britain in March 2021 over his continued attacks against Meghan Markle, has a history of attacking some members of the LGBTQ+ community live on TV.

And even alive, he said "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" and no one could.
To this day people say "let he who is without sin.." and trail it off as a saying for "we all fall short of perfection".

State lawmakers want children to fill labor shortages, even in bars and on school nights

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — As the federal government cracks down on child labor violations, some state lawmakers are embracing legislation to let children work longer hours and in more hazardous occupations.

The legislators, mostly Republicans, argue that relaxing child labor laws could ease nationwide labor shortages.

But child welfare advocates worry the measures represent a coordinated push to scale back hard-won protections for minors.

“The consequences are potentially disastrous,” said Reid Maki, director of the Child Labor Coalition, which advocates against exploitative labor policies. “You can’t balance a perceived labor shortage on the backs of teen workers.”

Lawmakers proposed loosening child labor laws in at least 10 states over the past two years, according to a report published last month by the left-leaning Economic Policy Institute. Some bills became law, while others were withdrawn or vetoed.

Legislators in Wisconsin, Ohio and Iowa are actively considering relaxing child labor laws to address worker shortages. Employers have struggled to fill open positions after a spike in retirements, deaths and illnesses from COVID-19, decreases in legal immigration and other factors.

Wisconsin lawmakers back a proposal to allow 14-year-olds to serve alcohol in bars and restaurants. If passed, Wisconsin would have the lowest such limit nationwide, according to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.

The Ohio Legislature is on track to pass a bill allowing students ages 14 and 15 to work until 9 p.m. during the school year with their parents’ permission. That’s later than federal law allows, so a companion measure asks the U.S. Congress to amend its own laws.

Under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, students that age can only work until 7 p.m. during the school year. Congress passed the law in 1938 to stop children from being exposed to dangerous conditions and abusive practices in mines, factories, farms and street trades.

Republican Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed a law in March eliminating permits that required employers to verify a child’s age and their parent’s consent. Without work permit requirements, companies caught violating child labor laws can more easily claim ignorance. Other measures to loosen child labor laws have been passed into law in New Jersey, New Hampshire and Iowa.

Iowa Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a law last year allowing teens aged 16 and 17 to work unsupervised in child care centers. The state Legislature approved a bill this month to allow teens of that age to serve alcohol in restaurants. It would also expand the hours minors can work. Reynolds, who said in April she supports more youth employment, has until June 3 to sign or veto the measure.

Republicans dropped provisions from a version of the bill allowing children aged 14 and 15 to work in dangerous fields including mining, logging and meatpacking. But it kept some provisions that the Labor Department say violate federal law, including allowing children as young as 14 to briefly work in freezers and meat coolers, and extending work hours in industrial laundries and assembly lines.

Teen workers are more likely to accept low pay and less likely to unionize or push for better working conditions, said Maki, of the Child Labor Coalition, a Washington-based advocacy network.

“There are employers that benefit from having kind of docile teen workers,” Maki said, adding that teens are easy targets for industries that rely on vulnerable populations such as immigrants and the formerly incarcerated to fill dangerous jobs.

The Department of Labor reported in February that child labor violations had increased by nearly 70% since 2018. The agency is increasing enforcement and asking Congress to allow larger fines against violators.

It fined one of the nation’s largest meatpacking sanitation contractors $1.5 million in February after investigators found the company illegally employed more than 100 children at locations in eight states. The child workers cleaned bone saws and other dangerous equipment in meatpacking plants, often using hazardous chemicals.

National business lobbyists, chambers of commerce and well-funded conservative groups are backing the state bills to increase teen participation in the workforce, including Americans for Prosperity, a conservative political network and the National Federation of Independent Business, which typically aligns with Republicans.

The conservative Opportunity Solutions Project and its parent organization, Florida-based think tank Foundation for Government Accountability, helped lawmakers in Arkansas and Missouri draft bills to roll back child labor protections, The Washington Post reported. The groups, and allied lawmakers, often say their efforts are about expanding parental rights and giving teenagers more work experience.

“There’s no reason why anyone should have to get the government’s permission to get a job,” Republican Arkansas Rep. Rebecca Burkes, who sponsored the bill to eliminate child work permits, said on the House floor. “This is simply about eliminating the bureaucracy that is required and taking away the parent’s decision about whether their child can work.”

Margaret Wurth, a children’s rights researcher with Human Rights Watch, a member of the Child Labor Coalition, described bills like the one passed in Arkansas as “attempts to undermine safe and important workplace protections and to reduce workers’ power.”

Current laws fail to protect many child workers, Wurth said.

She wants lawmakers to end exceptions for child labor in agriculture. Federal law allows children 12 and older to work on farms for any amount of time outside of school hours, with parental permission. Farm workers over 16 can work at dangerous heights or operate heavy machinery, hazardous tasks reserved for adult workers in other industries.

Agreed. I think most of us realize all of this is to combat having to raise wages. They will literally bring in children to do the work so they don't have to pay a living wage.
