Yeah, I though UAB was going to take them down. Not only was there offense relying on Petersen too much, their defense wasn't nearly as impressive as expected. Might just be a first game quibble this year - and hell, at least they didn't lose their opener, like last year!

Texas vs Ohio State - they both played St. Mary's School for the Blind in their opener, so we still don't know. However, Texas was more impressive in their opener than Ohio State.

Ultimately, I just think Ohio State doesn't have enough defense - they are replacing nine of eleven starters. I'd love to see them win, because I hate Texas just a smidge more than Ohio State, but I think Texas wins this one at home.

However, I don't expect Texas to go wire to wire this year - a freshman QB has never done it, IIRC. At some point he'll have a bad game, and they'll lose to someone they shouldn't. But at worst I see them losing 2 games and finishing the year right around the top 10 - not bad for replacing their all-world QB with a freshman.

You asked in post 81 if anyone got to see OU and Notre Dame almost blow it. Ohio State is OSU.

Oh... since you didn't quote it I assumed you were talking about UT vs OSU, which was the last thing being discussed. Simple miscommunication.

I hope Ohio State's season dies an ugly, early, embarassing death this weekend. :tasvir:

It won't matter if Ohio St. wins this weekend, since they are destined to lose to Michigan year after year even unto the ending of the world.

Come on, we all know Missery will once again fall short of their over inflated hopes. :jayzus:

When's the last time they even beat a Top Ten team?

When the best they can do is hire the former coach of Toledo, they ain't gonna be contending for anything except an Outback Bowl appearance on Dec. 21 for quite a while.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed the big game this weekend... Army vs Kent State... the last time those 2 got together it was a massacre. :soma:

Crap. Now I'm going to have to listen to a neverending string of "Ohio State, we're so great" bullshit for the next week. Okay, maybe Michigan will spoil their season.

From what I understand, Buckeye fans could make you want to drive a nail through their foreheads just to get them to shut the fuck up.

Now that the national championship hopes are dead after the second game of the season, Mack can focus on the only thing that really matters to Shorthorn fans - beating OU. He's what, 1-20 vs. Boomer Sooner?

*Yawn* Prepare yourselves for the inevitable hype of a possible Ohio St. - Notre Dame championship game. :dayton:

Of course, Ohio St. will suffer their annual choke against Michigan, so I'm not worried about a Buckeye championship.

As for OU, the 37-20 score vs. unranked Washington only *suggests* that OU was the far superior team. OU has no offensive game other than Adrian Peterson out of the backfield on every down. Which is enough when you're playing Northern Texas Polytechnic. But once they run into a team that can stuff that bullshit at the line of scrimmage, they're toast. The defense in merely adequate - they're not going to be stuffing many teams on 4th and inches.

Navy or USC will ensure Notre Dame knows only sad ignominity this year. :tasvir:

Much like Nebraska, my Cowboys have been playing Popsicle State the last two games. So 2-0, but no big thing. Next week, mighty Florida Atlantic and the greatest Sooner coach of all time, Howard Schnellenberger.

Too bad about Air Force and Troy, those two upsets would've been hilarious. :(

During the Texas game, I kept waiting for Vince to just turn it on and win the game but it never happened, I have a feeling Mack was thinking the same thing. :)

Against a Charle McBride-inspired Blackshirt defense full of bulked-up Nebraska boys?

    What are you smoking?

Yup those Blackshirts have really been tearing it up against La Tech and Nicholls State, huh?

Callahan has improved the Huskers some, but you're the one smoking if you think Nebraska has a good chance against the Trojans. It's not 1995 anymore. ;)

The only Trojans involved are going to be the condoms the Huskers use to boink the USC cheerleaders. :D

Well, I won't feel stupid for having talked a bunch of shit. Besides, I think SC is gonna take 'em.

Side note- since you mentioned the USC song girls, have you seen their new, midriff baring uniforms this year?

Most of the lines have USC as a two touchdown favorite.

In other news, the Georgia Bulldogs handed Steve Superior [sic] the second egg of his career.

But, next week should be...fun. Auburn vs. LSU should be fun. I'm looking for a good old fashioned SEC slugfest. Both defenses are good. Auburn's offense is fair, but LSU's offense just stinks.

But, with that said, if Auburn can take LSU handily they should take the SEC west and go to Atlanta. That's all I ask for.
