I have hung out in a few moderately wealthy circles and it is not only that I have more in common with the others, but I have more fun with and like them more than snobby rick people. Then again, I also do not have a taste for the finer things. Except for some frilly dresses. Gut rot wine, gas station coffee, and well made regular food are awesome to me. I can taste thew difference in the expensive stuff, but it isn't always better, and it certainly is not worth the increased cost. In fashion unless it handmade with better quality fuck the expensive stuff. Even in paintball I used to shoot a durable cheap gun known for being a rental POS because it worked with my hand and sight better than a setup worth 10x the amount.

About the only place I ever found being a snob was worth it was bowling equipment, but that was because of the physics of modern ball weighting, hole fit, and surfaces.

was listening to a very good pod this week about how late-stage capitalism was significantly at odds with Smith's writing - on purpose.

When the Chicago School reprinted his works they left out big chunks that would, if heeded, serve to temper greed.

But I'm not an economist so I tend to remember the points as generalities instead of specifics.

Sorta like how he feels that laws requiring gun owners to have to do the same kinds of things that car owners do will inevitably lead to no one being allowed to own a gun.

I am sure it will mean a lot to UA that they are enforcing the wrong laws on the others. I am sure he will get right on that as a "libertarian" because it matters so much to him.
