Lennon dying didn't have huge significance for me--I was in the 7th grade and had only a shallow awareness of The Beatles--but I do remember other (older) people being very upset.

I was an 8th-grader and very much into the Beatles at the time. I was watching MNF when Cosell broke the story. I was shocked and saddened. :(

I remember it. And I remember not caring. Still don't.

Watched Cosell announcement multiple times . Every time I was cutting onions and had dirt in my eye simultaneously and coincidentally. I’ve also seen the next day reaction in NYC. What I do enjoy, reluctantly of course, are the anniversary celebrations of life where people play songs at Strawberry Fields in Central Park. I’ve been there once and it’s beautiful. But of course I wouldn’t want to celebrate his life in that way. For me, like I said, don’t remember it, but I love The Beatles and John was the soul of the band and I can’t even imagine (no pun intended) what would have happened if he were alive say, around the time of Woodstock in the 90s or a reunion. It would have been huge.

I think we've got all of three or four "boomers" left on the board.
As always, Gen X is erased.

But yeah, it was probably the best thing to happen to his career in years.

I was 5, and oblivious to that there wasn't going to be a season 2 of Thundarr.
But that grief timebomb was ticking.

Narrator: "And so, John Lennon was dead. But the real tragedy was now looming..."
