I've helped half a dozen people this week move over to Linux Mint. While I doubt Linux will ever become the standard desktop for everyone (as cool as that would be to me), I do like seeing people realize Microsoft truly does not give a damn about the end user, only their data.

Yep. The developers behind Zorin did everything they could to make Zorin more Windows compatible in the last year, because they knew that Microsoft was about to gleefully shoot itself in its own foot.
By the way, for anyone interested, Zorin's a good, stable, easy to use Linux distro that takes all of the grunt work out of using Linux.

I found out this week that a Sony program we use to unzip files for uploading video won't work with Windows 11. :brood:

The IT department found another program that does the same thing, but not as well as the Sony one. :garamet:

The Sony program runs on everything but 11, which is the problem. IT is slowly converting all the devices in the building to 11.

In theory, they could run the Sony program inside of a virtual machine running Windows 10, but it would depend upon the hardware needs of the program. If it’s one that pushes the limits of a top of the line Windows 10 machine, then you probably couldn’t do it.

I was thinking more of using the built in option of running programs in older versions, unless that isn't an option anymore.

That's another one of those things where it may or may not work. My assumption was since that's the obvious way to do it, the IT guys had already tried that.

Hey, anyone remember when Windows was actually fun?

Like back in XP or 7?

Oh, what sweet people to give Microsoft the benefit of the doubt. No, Microsoft isn't going to debloat their software. That bloat exists to vacuum up every aspect of someone's digital life and sell it to the highest bidder.

That said, 8GB of RAM is more than enough to run Linux Mint with smooth and excellent performance!

MS is extending support for Win10 until next year. Imagine that. Also, imagine people buying new PCs so long as RAM prices are so high.
