Uh, well, where to start? Long story. No -- Volconvo was my sandbox for the 13 years of its existence. But last month it went the way of all earthly things. Other than that I'm a "retired" staff-translator but still working hard for my former employer. Also a lifelong aerogeek and animal-lover, a bit of a history buff, bit of a politics junky too (i.e. opinionated and strong sense of right'n'wrong). What else? Bit of a smart-ass, I'm afraid. Well it takes all kinds. Lousy childhood, great adulthood. Those are the highlights, as I see it.
I think you just had a chance to see us at our absolute worst for the last two weeks or so. If you still intend to stay, you're clearly made for this place!
I'll be frank: Though I don't know all that many boards, I'm not sure I've ever seen a place as chaotic as this. When you look at the all the forums set out there with their soothing definitions on the home page, it looks inviting. Then you go in and select Thread X or Y and see people telling each other to fuck off and calling each other stupid and doing everything conceivable except discussing the thread topic. And some of these thread topics do seem a trifle uhh.. eccentric, whimsical. It makes me wonder whether any real debating gets done here. I've also joined another board that appears to be heaving with Fascist Tough Guys. So I have my work cut out there --- perfect for someone as moronically argumentative as me. If I don't get banned or driven away by the hostile vibes. So I think I'll stay with both if that's OK.
That's a fair statement What's the link to the Fascist board? Some of us can go over and...diversify the place.
