Perhaps @Order2Chaos or @John can help me here.

Am a klutz with computers but I tried fiddling with my settings to get rid of the e-mails alerting me to the fact that somebody has posted on a forum I happen to have looked at once --- which junks up my e-mail.

Now I not only have the e-mails but also I get an alert telling me that X has quoted me. But when I look, all it is is X posting on the thread. No quote, nothing to do with me.
I most certainly don't want this.

And really I'd like to rid myself of the e-mails, unless somebody has directly quoted me.

    Can you help? Thanks.

Go here and remove your watched forums/disable emails for watched forums in the dropdown. I can't edit your preferences for this, oddly. XF is weird.

If that doesn't get rid of it all, try here and unwatch your threads. Somewhere in your UserCP there's a preference to automatically watch threads you post in. Can't seem to find it though.

    Thanks very much, @Order2Chaos.

    I "disabled e-mail notifications".

I’ll let you know if this doesn’t work.
