I'm sorry I am late with this this year, but my own medical situation lately caused this important anniversary to slip my mind last week.

It seems incredible that Techman has been gone 4 years now. He himself probably would have been surprised by how much he touched the people here and how much we still remember him even now...in conversation and in threads like these.

For anyone new, who didn't know Techman but would like to and for those of you who would like to reminisce, a couple links:

The Candlelight Vigil at the time of Techman's death.

    The 2010 Memorial Thread

    The first ever Memorial Thread.

Wordforge has never been quite the same since he passed on....I think both because of the person he was and his controversial but still good-natured opinions, but because of the shock of Wordforge losing a much loved member forever for the first time. Agree, disagree the folks here do care about each other on some level and this was and still is one of the worst blows this place has faced.

I do know that he would be pleased that WF is still here and many are still here doing what we and he really enjoyed.

So everyone, I hope you will take a moment to remember Techman on the (belated) anniversary of his death and honor a good poster, friend, father, fiancee and hero.

    Thank you!

I remember his kindness. Crazy how we can affect people we've never met. Every moment every action is a gift.

As much as it's good we remember Techman, it's a shame we don't also remember people like Mallory.

If anyone on WF reminded me of my dad, it was Techman. Like my own dad, he was opinionated, stubborn, and he knew what was right and wrong. His dislike of gays was also something my dad shared. They both don't really give a fuck what people think of them or their opinions. And they both have a knack of fixing things. They put in an honest day's work, and provided the best they can for their families.

There is something really old school about guys like that, and I'm not sure if it's going to be replicated in this up and coming sissy generation. These guys were raised in a time when it was ok to be men, and act like men, without feminists and queers painting a perception of you as a Neanderthal.

Godspeed Techman! You are still missed. :salute:

I don't remember really interacting with him much, but by all accounts it seems he gave a mighty fine accounting of himself in this life. :salute:

After he passed, I dug up a couple pics of him I'd saved in my early TK save-everything days. This was always my favorite:

Why do you think no one remembers Mallory? He wasn't as big a participator as Techman, but we remember.

It's only been 8 months since he passed, not time for a memorial thread yet.

Kind of a tactless thing to say in a thread like this though...especially coming from you of all people. :(

Mallory was voted the Techman Lifetime Achievement Award this year. I think he is well-remembered by quite a few people. Sadly, I didn't really know him all that well...

He was reassigned to God's navy. Sure, and God laughed, too, when he sent the new-fish angels out to fetch him some gig line.

It was a different time when Tom graced us here with his wit and wisdom. His unabashed apprach at things was part of what made him stand out and his caring nature will never be forgotten.
He was a man of honor, and I miss having him around.

Wow, I can't believe it's been four years now. It's pretty cool that there are still so many people on a random internet message board that remember him. It's a new kind of way to leave your mark on the world.

He was having chest pains, posted about it, Ramen told him to do some wind sprints, he had a heart attack and died. All of those things are true, in order, but not necessarily related.
