I am grilling today versus Sunday or Monday due to possible rain on those days. Regardless while Memorial Day is honoring those who "gave the ultimate sacrifice" I honestly believe they really "would have wanted it that way" that their fellow surviving vets (and citizens in general) are enjoying a relaxing weekend in the nation they died serving! But let's keep it light - I hope those who aren't working are kicking back and having fun - be safe!
Cooking some ribs tomorrow. Just drinking and reading today after going to the office for a few hours this morning.
I'm really trying something different for the grill tonight. Ground chicken burgers with feta cheese (mixed into the patty) - I just picked up the ingredients a few minutes ago.
Food 4 less has pork ribs on sale for $1.99 a pound, ribeyes for $3.99 a pound (lots of fat marbled in which makes ribeye the best cut of beef), hot dogs and hamburgers also on sale, and I make a mean potato salad and quinoa salad to die for. Friends have been notified, spouses and kids will be in tow, and I have all the BBQ stuff bought and ready. I think I have everything ready for tomorrow. The chicken and baby back ribs are already marinading.
No grillin' for me, although we did chill with most of the extended family for Chris' 19th BDay on Friday night. It was a very pleasant evening, weather-wise, and most of the time everyone was outside on our deck. We ordered a metric shitload of pizzas and drank many beers, and had a good ol' time. Then we cleaned up, crashed, woke up early the next day, packed our suitcases, and hopped on a flight to Vegas for 5 days!
@Quest Is that photo you posted taken on a Lake Michigan beach? And if so, is it in Illinois, Indiana, or Wisconsin? It's a great relaxing photo
It is indeed Lake Michigan, and its Illinois. Within the city limits of Chicago, believe it or not. I could've seen my apartment from where I was sitting if there hadn't been another building in the way.
Brown sugar with some garlic powder, fajita spice, Tony Chachere's, and then liberally dosed with kosher salt and ground black pepper.
