Expect more stuff like this as wealth inequality increases, more people go into debt, and guns become easier to access. She will probably benefit from a nice life insurance settlement, ironically.
CNN ran a story this morning that said there was writing on the bullet casings. One said "deny" and I can't remember the other. I can't find the story anymore. EDIT: They buried it further down now that there's a photo of the hero suspect. https://us.cnn.com/2024/12/05/us/unitedhealthcare-ceo-killed-what-we-know-hnk/index.html
I am a bit sad for his kids (the wife had a choice) but it would be hilarious if his life insurance policy refused to pay out.
It's honestly always been weird how many people commit suicide in the West, but how few of them decide to go out killing or at least trying to kill someone rich or powerful that could plausibly be blamed for at least some of their suffering.
Personal accountability is not oppression, you human parody. Some people actually accept responsibility for their lot in life.
Yeah, I think part of it is pop culture brainwashing. Like Batman might fatally wound or permanently cripple dozens of nameless thugs and goons every night, but he always insists that killing the Joker or any big name villain is a line he could never cross. It's only ever wrong to hurt the people at the top.
Yeah yeah, you're an island, everyone is an island, nothing anyone does ever effects anyone else, nothing is connected
The insurance companies who maximize profit over human decency. Actually, typing that out, I can see exactly why you fall on the side you do now.
You gotta wonder what gun control in the USA would look like if CEOs got shot at the same rate as kids do in high school
not sure why it’s a facepalm. He looks in his early 20s. At that age, most humans are still suffering the hormonal overdose of puberty to think clearly.
One of my female coworkers shared that on her Facebook with the comment, "Look, I can only crush so hard..."
It is because depression and consequence. Depression makes you apathetic. It is an escape and the end. If you actually care enough to fight back, you tend to turn depression and apathy into a purpose. Consequences also seem to get in the way. To get to that person you want to victimize might be hard and then death becomes harder to achieve as a percentage chance. It is a lot of extra energy top put forth for a solution that really does not matter when your purpose is to not be here anymore. That is especially true if your efforts might end up with you in prison. There is a lot of bad people in the world, and you really are not going to make a difference. That is not to mention why the fuck should I bother trying to make a better world by killing an asshole when I am on my way out the door and most of the people who live beyond are only going to badmouth me for trying to help rid them of a CEO like this? Most of the shitbag libs who whine about how horrid it is to kill this guy or make fun of it are openly complicit while the CEO killed decent people for profit.
