You seriously think its actually that high? IIRC from the "study" that Tuckerfan linked to they didn't even say definitively that it was "4%" just suggested it was a possibility.

And note that opponents of the death penalty have a direct interest in maximizing that figure if at atll possible.

The Nordic system work well with no animals. When it comes to animals there system is a complete fucking joke. You have Muslim shit stains beating and raping random women they pulled into the bushes at parks, slashing their faces, beating them bloody after raping them, then taunting their victims that Swedish justice is so weak they will be back in less then a year to do it again... And they are and they do.

No, the deterrent effect really does work on animals and it is the only thing that works on animals. Making sure they know they will be killed if they don't pretend to be humans works. Again, I want it reserved for worst offenders but some criminals really do need to know the state can do more and they can be even worse off if they don't control themselves.

Well, first of all, there are some major fallacies in your post. "Are you only opposed to justice when..." for instance. You seem to be trying to establish a framework where opposition to the death penalty equals opposition to justice, and that's not true. Second is the question "What if people have confessed so there is no doubt about guilt." In fact, a number of wrongful convictions have resulted from coerced confessions, especially when the suspect is mentally disabled.

But as for why I'm against it ... one reason is the possibility (and fact) of wrongful conviction. Another is that I'm not comfortable giving the state the power to kill people. It is very telling that so many conservatives are willing to give this major power to the state. It shows that they're really far more authoritarian than they want us to think.

Yes, but you're being the model of enlightenment.
You really are blissfully blind to your hypocrisy here, aren't you?

Yep, sure does, everyone just wants to retire to Texas, don't they?
The clean air, the crime free streets, it's like Epcot Center.
    ..wait, that's in Florida....
    Hmm...

One innocent man is one too many.

At least, it should be to anyone who isn't a bloodthirsty savage as we know you to be.

As Tafkats said, it's telling that the "we need less government intervention" lot is willing to support the government on this one.

You'd think they'd go for a bigger number than four percent, if that were the case.

What a truly stupid post. "Totalitarian one party states abuse it therefore it is impossible for anyone else to have a better system.". Go sit in the corner and think about what you just did.

Well, if a thing is good, you'd think more would be better.

Mostly due to the Catholic Church and many early EU states being Catholic and so demanding it be a condition of membership.

Thanks, but I don't want a theocratic organization dictating government policy especially one as broken and out right stupid as the Catholic Church. Did you hear the Pope's latest verbal diarrhea about not having open borders being the same as the Nazis? Keeping out illegal alien welfare moochers is the same as concentration camps?

Yeah, that stupid Argentine can go fuck himself when he spouts idiotic nonsense like that.

This post is such a mess, I don't even know what's being said here...:wtf:

The Catholics fucked up Iraq and China?

Or....totalitarian states that use execution are "doing it wrong", because...reasons...and anti-death penalty countries are....run by the Catholic illuminati?

    :wtf:

What is all this "giving the government the power to kill" is wrong BS?

We already give the government the power to kill on a massive scale via the military. And on a lesser scale in law enforcement allowed to use lethal force.

He seems to believe that Catholics have to swear on the Bible (the Douay-Rheims version, of course) that they’ll never advocate for capital punishment in order to become “members” of the church.

When you say that, you are NOT basing your argument against either the death penalty or the government right to conduct military operation on moral grounds.

    But on efficiency and reliability.

That's nice but it wasn't the question. You think that the United States should work to protect Christians around the world. Should they work with the same vigor to protect athiests?

Just like those leaders that based Communism, right? Man, if only there were a *good* person that could run a Communist state, then it would totally work!

    No.

Some ideas are just bad and the execution of such will never be workable.

    Fat free Twinkies, for example.

    Or the Violet Room.

As Diacanu pointed out, the "animals" you despise are the biggest supporters of this method, but for all your claims of keeping their culture off our soil, that doesn't make you think even a little bit.

    I'm shocked. :borg:

Much better than the alternative which we see in the bay area where police have been emasculated, striped of their power to insure public safety, and told to stand down even as rioters/looters/lawbreaks commit arson, assault, and numerous other serious crimes including attempted murder.

No, I have the least extreme position here unlike an extremist like you. I want the death penalty rare but legal and I want use of force by law enforcement allowed but checked upon with oversight and body cams.

You are the extremist declaring the death penalty must be outlawed and police use of force not allowed. Stop being an extremist.
