Target is not only selling but prominently displaying vinyl LPs of Justin Timberlake’s latest.

The winner, and still champion!

CDs will still be around a long time. It will just be more likely one would buy an album through Amazon, rather than look at the terrible selection from a Best Buy, Target, or Walmart.

Yeah, I can't remember the last time I bought a CD from Best Buy but I get them all the time through Amazon.

You really can't beat them for selection. I've bought 3 in the past 2 months, all under $5 and in great condition. Best Buy and others can't compete with that.

Haven't bought a CD in years, but then I'm not exactly keeping up with modern music. It's all garbage, anyway. Get off my lawn, hippies.

Lower cost option, most of the time, too. The digital album will be $12.99 or something, and then I'll see a used like new CD for $2. After shipping, it's $6. Half the price, and I can still rip it to my digital library when it arrives. Win/Win.

Haven't bought too many ads now that my car can use a memory stick and mp3s. Really, a little effort and you can easily browse through your entire music catalogue along with setting up mood folders and playlists. I found a single CD player for my car was pointless in the nineties and always had a multidisk until a couple of years ago when I went to the mp3s and now Pandora. It is the one area of tech I have actually kept up on. Gotta have the music and all of my djs who have found shit for me are either dying or getting lame.

Eh, I can put 6 or 7 albums on one CD, or just 120 of my favorite songs. I have a CD I labelled "A Shitload of 90's Songs," and it has 106 songs from 1990 to 1999. It sits in my CD storage case in the car, right next to the "Fuck me! That's a lot of 80s!" CD that has 95 songs from 1980-1989, and my "Funkload of 1970s Hits" CD that has 110 of my favorite 70s songs**.

I derive pleasure from making these compilations, and I also don't have to deal with playlists and folders while I'm trying to drive. It works for me.

**Needless to say, family doesn't get to choose from the CDs when they drive with me.

With the exception of Star Wars and Star Trek CD's I haven't bought a CD since 2007 when I got an iPod. Wow can't believe it's been 11 years.

I don't have a portable player anymore either for CDs.

The only cd I've purchased in a decade was an audio short story. Red and black by James Swallow. I still have mp3s I downloaded from Napster.

Over the last few months I've been raiding the discount bins as I see actual music pop up in them, and I've gotten "best ofs" of the Temptations, the Four Tops, and the Supremes for less than a dollar per song I want, which beats iTunes AFAIK. Plus whatever songs are on there that I either don't know or wouldn't pay money for, but am now getting as a bonus. (I also found a Three Dog Night CD, but I already had most of the good songs on there.)

Just bought some CDs, but then I rip them and stick the music on a thumbdrive for the car, and the playlist on the PC.

Put all those with the Mamas and the Papas tracks we have and I'll have a pretty sweet mix CD, but I kinda want to hold out until I find a CCR bargain.
