Yep. I watched him the other night to see what he had to say upon coming back from Trump and Carr's censoring, but in general I don't watch him.
I watched him three times this week, which is three more times than I've ever watched his show before. He seems like a fine host (I've liked him when he's done the Oscars) but I think it was O2C who said that it's no wonder that John Oliver and Colbert's writers always win the Emmy for that category.
I’m all for a bargain, but it’s hard to do that when you’ve observed the political right making horrendously stupid decisions that leave people poorer, less educated, and less likely to raise children.
So what exactly is the deal he's proposing? That the Dems move further centrist but the Repubs keep their same views but are less authoritarian? Seems like a shitty compromise to move the Overton window to the right.
Agreed. Kimmel's not bad, I chuckled a few times, but compared to either John or Stephen? It's not even close. I could see myself watching him if there was nothing else on, as he seems like a pretty decent interviewer, but I'm not sure he's my cup of tea. I'm more of a Conan O'Brien fan when it comes to Late Night, and since he's not on anymore, I generally just don't watch Late Night.
My days of not taking Bill Maher seriously are certainly coming to a middle. It’s not a compromise at all. It demands “liberals” as individuals and as a group denounce every idea to the left of Bill Maher. And you know it’s individually because it’s exactly what the increasingly unpopular Democratic Party leadership, particularly on the national level, already basically does, regularly. In exchange… someone in Donald Trump’s orbit agrees to follow the law, one time.
charlie kirk was a tool and now he is a dead tool he will be fading soon....they use people and toss em hell even the ballroom is more important to rump. you people who worship this dick head he has no character manlyness bravery or any redeeming value at all. what i am hoping is the the part of the country that is still America will 'wake up' (oh god oh god) to what you really are and crush you into pieces i swear the world seems to have to rid it's self of you types every so many years.
A guy that is pro gun control ,pro climate change, anti Trump, atheist, and who always endorses democrats for President isnt left wing enough for you? Just admit that you hate seeing your side held to any scrutiny and call it a day
The fact that you equate those things with "left wing" shows just how far off the rails the political discourse has gone in the United States of America.
A) It was about money in the sense that most of them are not making enough money to support themselves. B) The larger issue was the existential threat to the entire industry from AI. C) Maher deciding to say "Fuck it, I don't care about my employees" says everything about him.
My side is pretty much just the anti-Trump side. I've held plenty of Dems to scrutiny. I just don't want to hear it from a smarmy self-serving piece of shit like Maher.
Margaret fucking Thatcher as PM introduced further gun controls and spoke about the dangers of climate change. American politics and their view of the left/right divide is cooked.
Has always been a raging misogynist, and hidden it from stupid people with concern trolling for poor men, has always been a raging anti-LGBT bigot, and hides it from stupid people with "just asking questions", plays the stopped clock game with pseudo-science on anti-vax, and hides that from stupid people with "just asking questions". And then his less stupid bigot/anti-science fans use him to play stopped clock. Fuck him, and fuck you. Go gaslight some board full of FFs.
[ Well no shit sherlock. That's like the entire history of worker strikes. Too little pay for the number of hours worked. Its the same old story. No it wasn't. Try and pull that shit on someone who can't fact check. Pull up any video of strikers from that time and the majority of them are talking about money. Pull up any statement from the WGA itself and the number one topic was money. Out of the four demands that were met, three of them had to do with money. AI was only a small part of that. It might have been a big deal to you, but those people picketing cared about their pay. If you are too lazy to watch the video then read the comments section. No one is talking about AI. Its all about money. That is not what he said you hyperbolic idiot. Maher felt that after five months it was time to bring people who aren't writers back to work and stated he would honor the spirit of the strike by omitting pre-written segments like monologues, focusing instead on live discussions. Writers aren't needed for one on one interviews or round table discussions which make up about half his show. The entire entertainment world shouldnt have to stop working just because writers have a beef. Sorry, but not everything revolves around you or your profession. Plus in the end Maher heard the criticism and didn't follow through on re opening the show due to both sides going back to the bargaining table. So your entire rant is complete fiction.
Gee, its almost like a country whose origins began with breaking from England and King George would still have different political views hundreds of years later from an England that still believes in the archaic concept of Kings and Queens. Who would have thunk it?
Here’s a good example. Scale: He talks about land acknowledgements. Personally I think they are hokey. So I don’t do them. But the three seconds it takes to hear someone else say ‘I acknowledge that we are on Duwamish ancestral land’ isn’t a huge loss in the grand scheme of things. On the other hand a US Citizen and Veteran being pepper sprayed, beaten, kidnapped, held for three days and then dropped off two states away, that is something actually damaging. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/29/us/trump-immigration-agents-us-citizens.html That’s what I mean by the scale of the two complaints not being comparable. Next is Kind: Most of what he complains about from the left are words. He doesn’t like hearing words. People are saying things he doesn’t think should be said. Individuals, not government. Whereas on the right it is actions. The government is doing things he doesn’t think the government should be doing. THOSE ARE TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS! Even more hypocritical the only way this ‘compromise’ would work would be for Dems to agree to laws stopping people from saying land acknowledgements and saying ‘trans women are women’ (to use two of his examples) in return for laws guaranteeing we don’t have a police state but if you are banning people saying things…
Maher made clucking noises he thought sounded good while knowing full well he was undermining the strike. Because he wanted his paycheck.
Exactly this. Maher cares about one person: Bill Maher. Everyone else can eat shit when he has a chance to get paid, even though he's already very well off. He's an arrogant cuntwumpet, he's not left wing, and he doesn't give a damn about anything outside of his sphere of influence: a man of immense privilege telling people who are in danger of losing their rights that those rights are negotiable and the people they need to protect them should step back and allow the negotiations to commence. That's not the left wing, that's the right wing. Bill Maher is a fascist's idea of a socialist.
Actually, I think that's giving Maher too much credit. I would say he's a Libertarian's poster boy. Maher is a solipsist who is convinced his experience in life is the only one that matters. Climb the ladder and pull it up after you...
