I saw a good explanation of this earlier, and rather than jacking the thread where the dim bulb opined on the phrase, I thought I'd just respond to him in a dedicated thread. So here's the deal on this. I don't think "all lives matter"' is racist. In fact, I struggled for quite a while trying to figure out why people had a problem with it. Imagine Flashlight at a dinner table with a group of other people. They are all served and start eating, but Flashlight still has an empty plate. He says "flashlight's meal matters!" Somebody else looks up and says "all meals matter." The others nod, and they all go back to eating. It's not necessarily racist, but I think it stems from a thorough misunderstanding of what the BLM activists are trying to say.

Exactly this. No one pulls this when discussing Mexican immigration, or the history of Native American cultures or Japanese interment. But blacks call foul on our accomplishments being minimalized and suddenly, we're racists. Flashy's crybaby whine reminds me of that All in the Family episode where Mike's black friend gets the promotion he was hoping for and he assumes the guy only got it due to affirmative action.

I don't know what the issue is. I think we should be researching Flashlight's obscure mental disease just as seriously as cancer or how to end institutional prejudice against blacks. Flash Lives Matter.
There's no misunderstanding there. "All lives matter" is a a disingenuous slogan that intentionally misrepresents what "black lives matter" is supposed to be about. Just like the anti-abortion fuckwits that insist on calling themselves "pro-life" instead of "anti-choice."
Black lives matter is not about black lives when killed by other blacks. A couple dead kids recently here in South Florida prove that. Not to mention the hundreds across the country. If there was real and loud outrage over every black life taken even if the killer was another black person I'd have a lot more respect for the movement. As of now though it's just another front for leftist agitators to create divisions among people.
Just like pro-choice only counts when it comes to abortion, but nothing else. You have no choice on how much soda you consume or whether or not you want to purchase health insurance, or pay into Medicare, or social security, the list goes on. Pro-choice my ass.
Sorry, but no. Most murders happen among others of the same race. Even between whites and Asians because in large part we group ourselves with similar folks. I did used to have this mentality, but that doesn't excuse the trigger happy cops that spray bullets and kill innocent children and pets during raids and such.
You realize the soda thing was only in NYC, right? And that even there, that law was overturned less than a year later? If you need an explanation for why public health services are a good thing for everyone (ie, stopping the spread of communicable diseases like TB), I dunno what to tell you. I'm done bashing my head over the pro life/anti any life assistance after the "precious life" is born hypocrisy, but anyone who thinks slut shaming will work to end unplanned pregnancy is a naive moron that has no life experience. You can dress the term up, but ultimately, pro-lifers are, as a general group, anything but. They pass laws that prevent even legitimate late term medically recommended abortions, vote down assistance to low income families and are a big reason why three strike laws and mandatory life sentences for non violent drug laws exist in some states. To liberals and even the converatives I know with working brain cells, this smacks of bullshit.
Black lives matter only when they're gunned down by the giant and powerful government they keep voting for.
The more everyone focuses on black or not black, the sooner the healing process can begin and the US can start to move forward from a point at which we will apparently never reach. So let's focus on black or not black faster and more intensely because we need to heal.

Bloomberg has been a Democrat his whole fucking life. Until he decided to run for Mayor of New York City. It was only because in 2001 that the Democrat field for Mayor was so crowded that he jumped to the Republican party in order to defeat the one lone Republican running for the Republican nomination instead of several Democrats in the Democrat nomination process. It worked because of two things: #1 The GOP is run by idiots who decided it would look cool PR-wise to have back-to-back Republicans as mayor of the city even though they knew Bloomberg was no Republican and #2 Bloomberg, the so called "Republican" was more Democrat in his campaign then the Democrats who were running. And two years into his second term he dumped the Republican party, I guess he felt politically safe in doing so, and became an Independent. So out of his 74 years of life he was a Republican for SIX years. And the soda thing? Took place in the third term with Bloomberg as an Independent. And the idea of the soda tax is still supported by the current Democrat Mayor.
