Due out next month. The trailer gives an interesting spin on things. If I didn't know better, I'd think it was a different movie. And while I'm sure I'm alone in this, I wish they'd include the version with the voice over narration. I know everybody hates it, but I actually like it, even if I do think that the added scenes in the other versions make for a better movie (as well as the enigmatic ending of the film).
If the video quality gets good reviews, this is a must-buy (I have several versions on DVD and Blu-Ray already).
I'm waiting for Bladerunner to come in a powder that I can either sniff, of cook on a spoon and inject.
Hmmm. Let's see... I have the original non-anamorphic DVDs. Yech. I have the later anamorphic DVDs with the non-anamorphic original theatrical cuts. And I have the Blu-Ray set. I hope they at least have an HD version of the theatrical cut when they bring out the 4K release.
I used to have the Star Wars limited edition that had the special edition and theatrical cut, apparently they are rare. Unfortunately, I sold them and bought the 2011 blue ray's.
At the time the last DVDs came out, Lucas was spinning some bullshit that the theatrical versions only existed in their laserdisc-mastered versions, so a 16×9 (or, later, HD) release was impossible. Apparently, Disney has said not so, and releases of the original versions in HD (or higher) are possible going forward. Whether they *will* release them is another story.
I know I'll instantly lose all my movie cred but I have never seen this movie through. Like GODFATHER, I fall asleep inevitably. It's so boring!
A release of the original, unaltered versions would be a day #1 purchase for me. Easy money for Disney, they should take it.
