I'm sure there are free options out there, but they're probably loaded down with more bloated and intrusive advertising than TBBS. The best semi-free option that I'm aware of is hosting your own board and running phpBB. The phpBB software itself is free, and although it takes some configuration, you don't need to know that much -- I was able to do it, and I'm not an IT person by any stretch of the imagination. A domain name and a decent hosting plan can be had on GoDaddy for probably less than $100 a year, although if your board grows to the point where it has a lot of traffic and/or an extensive back catalog, you'll need enterprise-level hosting, which is a lot more expensive. (Also, I don't know how well phpBB deals with scale. My only experience with it was running a very small board for some friends from college that never exceeded 30 members and only lasted a few years, at which point we all just connected on Facebook.)
Just to help the poorly educated, anna has an ego, but she has a thick skin around it and it is not easily deflated or hurt. You are welcome for that little bit of education.
What worries me about the change is that Anna hasn't been an owner of a major media outlet like WF before, and suddenly she's going to find herself at events with Mark Zuckerberg, Evan Spiegal, Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, Steven Spielberg, and Tom Hanks. What will she wear?

I don't think anyone has answered the question of what a one quarter share of this site costs especially since it is probably a net money loser. I like the place and am glad some people are willing to sink some (maybe $100 a year?) of their hard earned cash into keeping it running but... The question still needs to be asked.
She is the creepy chick who used to stalk my internet posts and post my personal information here without my permission. Fortunately, she stopped doing that some time before she finally pulled up stakes and ran away. Oh, and I also think she helped Volpone make a parallel version of this site prior to her leaving because she was convinced the place would fall apart without her and that the new owners couldn't be trusted.

Oh, is that all. Low grade attack. If I were to start fucking with someone I would start sending their mindless embarassing chatter to their friends and families employers. It seems that when an employee ends up getting drama of one of their friends spammed to their managers people get fired. I started out playing expose a troll back in my usenet netcop days. I have play on levels that are extremely destructive. If you put another really good troll next to me we might just discover we have similar grievances and become friends. It has happened in the past. But that is all in the past, and why the fuck would you even want to have such games played here? It is nasty and people get hurt, and I am really not mad at anyone in that way anymore.
