Cops get taped because they can arrest you and the tape is evidence, so it HELPS them perform their duty. I'm sure UA wasn't implying they were being taped because they might, y'know, plant evidence or kill someone. In actual fact, I am recorded giving my lectures, so students can revise. No, you can't view those lectures willy-nilly. Nor can you just roll up and demand a cop's bodycam footage. You also can't demand public CCTV footage either, without a court ruling (i.e. if it might absolve you of a crime). Yet UA wants unfettered access, because he really fucking hates fetters or indeed any form of rules or regulations.
It can also help hold them accountable for misconduct. Sometimes they do, and I'll trust video footage way more than eyewitness accounts. It would be available on a public access server if it were up to me. I would need to know who pays for the camera to deliver a ruling on that. You're all over the map with that one. No, I don't hate all forms of regulation or all assertions of privacy. But neither public servants nor civilians on public property have any sacred claim to concealing their activities. You only get to decide that on your own property and your own time.
I think it's more to prevent theft, and people sneaking off to in some dark corner (this isn't Gamestop or Starbucks. there are forklifts and manufacturing equipment operating everywhere). I don't recall ever being hassled for something they saw me doing on camera.

I had a teacher who told us fat cells never go away. They just go flat. But they are always hungry wanting to be fed so they can get big again. Which pet cause do you suppose that was? Whatever it is that teachers are saying in schools that is not in the curriculum is not indoctrination. It’s a teacher’s opinion. The very idea that it would be “indoctrination” is propaganda from those who want to be able to keep their status as a privileged race.
