A funny but scary article. It is sad just how true something like this could be given the complete idiots CA voters have sent to Sacramento Link
Now that Illinois has abolished the death penalty, other states are expected to follow suit. That would save taxpayers a bundle, as would lowering marijuana possession to a misdemeanor, something that apparently 75% of Californians approve.
Nah, they're the old school blue-haired Reaganites who believe that one toke leads to a life of crime, unless you Just Say No.
Of course, but in increments. Remember, we had a chance to legalize it, but - you'll pardon the expression - we blew it.
Nationwide, 88% of marijuana sentences are for possession only... ...and $47,000 a year to incarcerate an inmate for one year in the State of California...
Well, include me out. And how many of those Boomers are resisting legalization because it'll cut into their profits?
Re: The costs of capital punishment in California Good on California for taking the initiative by using their prison system as a stimulus towards their economy. Many jobs must have been created to carry out the death penalty.
Garamet as is almost always the case is wrong. To execute people is not all that expensive. To house them for decades and pay for ridiculous number of appeals, that what costs the money.
