I recently found an old thread where the late, great dkehler posted, and noticed that he had no avatar. When he was still with us, he had an avatar, and given that the only reason he stopped posting here when he did was because he died, I think that the least we can do (since we switched board software) is give him one, can somebody make that happen? Either give him back his old one, or post a pic of him, so that at least some part of him lives on. He was a decent guy. (Though, even if he wasn't, I wouldn't object to him getting similar treatment.)
If anyone has a photo of him or remembers his old avatar, I'm game to see what can be done. We could do the same for the others as well.
His avatar was something like a badger or raccoon with its mouth opened like it was attacking on a background which resembled the rising sun flag of Japan, if I remember right. This post in the thread announcing his passing has a pic of him.
Either a badger or more likely a ferret. I don't remember there being a background or not. Yeah, a ferret.
Not to be a spoilsport, but I'm not sure we should use an actual photo of him unless we have reason that he would have wanted it or someone in his family wants it now. But restoring the badger would be great.
No, I've looked. Because of the quirks of our board software at the time, things like avatars weren't saved. In fact, most of their caches are of the front page of Wordforge, and not too many of the actual threads (though there is definitely one thread there in it's entirety ).
I don't recall that ever being his avatar here. I do remember the otter one, though I wouldn't know where to find it.
I found a couple of photos of him, but the avatar seems to have vanished entirely. IIRC, it was his wife who notified someone on staff when he died. Would anyone know how to get in touch with her?
