His last big hit was "my ding-a-ling" around 1970 or so. Terrible song, one of my neighbors had it on a vinyl 45 RPM. But hey, he did enough for music back in his early days - he influenced a lot of future greats, which is the most important thing any artist can do.
Wow, a true giant is gone. Yes, if you'd asked me, I would have guessed he was gone already. Had no idea he was still around.
I just remembered - when I was taking my physical to get into the army we had to "duck walk" around the room while the doctor observed us. weird - I never actually had to duck walk for the rest of my career, and still don't to this day. But if I ever would have had to, I was indeed capable of it! Should I put this on my job resume?
He was still working, right up to the end, from what I understand. He had a new album that either came out at the end of last year, or is set to come out this year, IIRC.
His last album will drop this year. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/inside-chuck-berrys-first-new-album-in-38-years-w472743
