This piqued my interest as an independent film with heavy right-wing coding -- it's fun to indulge in counter-culture! Immigrants are fucking up Western societies and someone needs to enact justice when the government won't! Yee-haw! Except this vigilante is pretty unhinged, which adds a layer of irony. He's privileged idle rich, fucks whores in brothels he owns, murders police officers en masse, murders innocent family members alongside the actual criminals, etc. Imagine if Batman dressed normally, hated the government, and were corrupt and self-indulgent with murderous violence. Armie Hammer is entertaining to watch, but the writing (plot and dialogue) is pretty bad. In terms of reviews, I have never seen such a divergence between the critics' score and the audience scores (see below). Overall, it might be worth viewing for the laugh factor, and as an insight into right-wing thinking.
It's Uwe Boll, if you're going in expecting a quality movie experience, you're probably the type who expects a Michelin star meal from McDonalds rather than a depressed burger with a free toy made by a 8 year old slave in a Chinese Muslim panopticon prison. It will enrage the vocal left - who'll unquestioningly accept a bearded 30 year old, with a wake of murder and sexual assaults, as a 12 year old refugee - and delight the vocal right - who'd trebuchet a genuine, in need of sanctuary, 12 year old refugee, right into the unloving arms of their drooling-in-anticipation oppressors, just in case they might one day hide under their bed with a rusty hedgetrimmer of death. I'm sure he'll make a nice payday from everyone watching it so they can get angry/hard over it
It's funny to me that no one on the right is really talking about this. Supergitl had more cultural impact than this turd.
