Thus why she will go to jail for decades. Didn't we cover this? Are you just upset the media is doing its job? Because reporting stuff is kind of their job.

This isn't a case of a cop trying to serve a warrant or any other typical cop/drug related shootout. The cop was only there because she was at the wrong apartment. If the media wants to "investigate" something, how about checking in to this officers background? Has she been written up before? Someone stupid enough to go to the wrong apartment and then kill an innocent tenant has to have a record of some kind. That would be the media doing it's job.

What does reporting they had found weed in his apartment contribute to the public discourse on his death?

The medias job is to provide relevant information, this was them blatantly trying to do besmirching of the victim.

exactly! The dead guy isn't on trial - the cop is. While not the exact situation, here is something similar: an army bud of mine has a kid who is less than an angel to say the least.
Anyway one time he committed army robbery in the parking lot of the Alaska state fair - well who among us hasn't? Just kidding....well he robbed a drug dealer. Witnesses saw the robbery, and did indeed talk to the cops and the kid was quickly apprehended. But the kid actually thought the court would cut him a break because it was just one criminal robbing another criminal. But the law doesn't work that way, as the kid soon found out staring down the business end of a very likely stretch in prison. :jayzus:
Follow up: the kid via the cops fucking up the case  did eventually get cut a break (sort of) by ending up with a "time served" however he still has a felony on his record.

The media's job is to STAY IN BUSINESS as well as provide relevant information. There is a lot of competition in the media/news business so if you are too  you end up unemployed.

Mostly it sells papers and webclicks. The case is in the news and media knows any information will get eyeballs and thus make money. It is not the vast conspiracy certain posters here have wrongly claimed. Those claims were just those posters showing their ignorance of tge basic economics of the industry and why they do what they do.

She's already out of jail and back to work.

Meanwhile, people who called for her arrest via peaceful protest are still in jail.

And yet a bunch of you Trumpers refuse to try to understand why people are kneeling in front of the flag? Yeah, fuck you.

Blow it out your ass! This kind of shit (cop back on the job while protesters are still in jail) goes on under every president we have ever had and will continue to go on under every future president. Do you have to drag Trump & Trump supporters into every fucking scenario on the planet? :unuts:

If you support their cause, yet have a problem with their means of peaceful protest, then YOU are part of the problem and YOU are worse than the KKKer who is at least honest about their hatred.

Any why, pray tell, do you have a problem with this sort of protest? It's peaceful. It doesn't affect you directly. All it does is offend your sensibilities. It probably makes you think "There's a time and a place for a protest like this....and the NFL game and the National Anthem are not included". Guess what? You don't have a right to not be offended and you don't get to dictate when someone is allowed to protest. Don't want to feel uncomfortable? Turn the damn tv off and shut the fuck up.

I did turn it off a LONG time ago(as have millions of others), but I'll talk about it as long as pieces of shit like you keep defending it. Don't like it? Too bad. This is a forum and last time I checked you don't control the board nor are you man enough to shut me up. :techman:

One more thing, if you don't like seeing my opinion on athletes who take a knee, then don't drop it in a thread that had absolutely NOTHING to do with the NFL or athletes numbnuts.

Assuming that is true then I assume you have no problems with prayers before and after football games?

I watch the news every day and read the news from multiple sources every day. Go ahead and explain why you think I'd object to voluntary prayer before/after a game.

Perhaps he is conflating pro-football with high school. There is controversy over prayers conducted by public school employees.

    That makes sense.

Then, yes, I do have a problem with it. Public high schools are government entities. The NFL isn't. Government entities shouldn't be pushing public prayer as it is effectively an endorsement of religion.

Personally I think looking up the cops background would make for interesting coverage. Especially if you find that she has a pattern of bad behavior that has been ignored .

Yep. In fact if the data from Amber's door also shows that Amber went to her door first than she's lying that she went to the wrong apartment by accident and now she's going to get upgraded to murder. First degree murder charges given that she parked on the wrong level of the garage and claimed she went to the wrong apartment because she was on the wrong floor which would show she planned the murder in advance.

T.R. brought up a good point - it is unsettling when (after the fact of course) there is a shooting or other violent incident and we find out that the cop has a history of incompetence, insubordination, anger issues, brutality investigations, etc. going back several years. :brood: My point being nobody is perfect, but if they aren't fit for the job, why doesn't the police force get rid of them? Making random mistakes when a rookies is expected - but when a pattern of misbehavior/incompetence appears, that cop has become a liability and not an asset - time to find a new career. When I tried (decades ago) to become a cop there were far more applicants than job openings. Surely if you can't cut it as a cop, there are plenty of qualified applicants who can take your place.....or is this not the case in 2018?

Good question. I still remember the O.J 30 for 30 special and how Mark Furman had a BAD history of hate and contempt for black people yet was still allowed to stay on the force after "therapy." I'm glad he got therapy, but he shouldn't have been allowed to stay on the force.

If you didn't let people stay on the job who have character flaws, then you pretty soon not have anyone to perform many of them.

Everyone has "character flaws!" But when those character flaws hinder your work to excess, then you should be forced to hit the bricks.
This isn't shining shoes! :nono: Anyone toting a gun as part of their job (like the military for example) is involved with life & death decisions.
There are no "do overs" in such a job. If you don't have the discipline to keep your shit together to a minimum level of job performance that instills confidence in your fellow gun-toting employees then you need to go, full stop. Cops & military are expected to be able to perform their stressful jobs to a high standard 24/7 365 and make the right & smart decisions despite whatever character flaws they deal with.
