Caught it yesterday, enjoyable, but missing something. It's good to see a strong female hero getting a marquee film though, and DC managed it before Marvel despite Marvel having had Black Widow (who, in many ways, can offer a more engaging tale than that of a superpowered hero) on screen for some time. The 'feel' was more Raiders of the Lost Ark then Captain America, which I rather liked and, until the final battle, kept me mostly engaged. The final battle was a bit meh - something that I think the DCU may suffer from, as out of the triumvirate only Bats comes with human weaknesses, both WW and Supes are effectively gods and so their antagonists either have to be close in power, or smart. The former are prone to suffering from lacking engagement, the latter is prone to boredom (see Star Wars PT) and much more suited to TV where you have a lot more than 2 hours to have a plot, characterisation and a cunning plan.

Danny Elfman is gonna score Justice League. Ehhhh.....his Batman theme is iconic, his Spider-Man is okay, but he's been trying less and less lately. Hopefully, Whedon cattle prods his ass into trying harder. The Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman themes were set up by Hans Zimmer, but Elfman has to lay something fresh down for Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg to carry them into their movies. http://www.cbr.com/justice-league-danny-elfman-composer-score/
WW is poised to dethrone "Mama Mia!", at 609.8 million as the highest grossing female directed film. http://www.darkhorizons.com/wonder-woman-breaks-new-box-office-record/
WW is set to go past Man Of Steel's domestic gross. http://www.cbr.com/wonder-woman-box-office-record-man-steel/
It's rumored DC is going to ramp up to 3-4 movies a year* and that they'll FINALLY announce an updated and repaired release slate timeline at San-Diego Comic-con. *I worked out the math on this a few weeks ago on my own, and they fucking HAVE to to chew through all the shit they have announced! http://www.cbr.com/rumor-dc-films-release-3-or-4-movies-per-year/
I figure they can do a Justice League movie only about every three years and we'll get an installment of one of the "major" franchises (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman) every year. 2017 Wonder Woman Justice League 2018 Aquaman 2019 Flash (this is looking very doubtful for 2018 since it's not in production right now) Batman (ditto) Gotham City Sirens (if Harley is the lead, this sorta functions as Suicide Squad 2) Batgirl (does Whedon's work on Justice League change this?) 2020 Cyborg (still part of the plan?) Justice League 2 Wonder Woman 2 (this seems to be ramping up pretty quickly, don't think it will happen in '19, however) Black Adam (get the Rock in a superhero flick ASAP!) 2021 Man of Steel 2 Nightwing Green Lantern Corps Booster Gold
They're doing Suicide Squad 2 on top of Gotham City Sirens, and don't forget Justice League Dark. Also, Shazam. As hard as they're pushing Black Adam, they refuse to throw that one away. Oh, I get it, if you or I were in charge, some of this shit would get cut, but going on what they've said...
I can't imagine ALL of this stuff is still in play. You do Shazam or you do Black Adam, you don't do both. I can't imagine Margot Robbie doing nothing but playing Harley Quinn for the next 10 years, so if they do Gotham City Sirens, there's gotta be at least a year's break between it and SS2. I personally wonder why they'd bother with Cyborg. Even Nightwing leaves me a bit meh. Where's the friggin' Green Lantern films?!? Gotta get those heavy hitters out there. (I'd love it if somehow they could do Green Lantern/Green Arrow.)
No, I think Harley needs to be off in her own little starring thing, and they should rotate the rosters for SS like in the comics.
Don't know if she could do the acting part of it, but I'd certainly love to see Alexandra Daddario in the catsuit...
For SS, keep Deadshot. Deadshot and Waller are the connective tissue, everyone else, you can rotate new characters in. I don't care who else new they toss in, as long as they have Killer Frost.
I think Deadshot is the "star," the team member who's always there. He connects to Batman. Captain Boomerang (who I think should also stay--can't believe I really liked Jai Courtney in a role!) connects to Flash. Need connections to Superman, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman. Can't be their main villains (no Luthor, Black Manta, or Cheetah) but how about Metallo, King Shark, and Silver Swan? And the second lead--a la Harley in SS1--is Killer Frost, who connects to...eh, Firestorm? (I guess the Flash if you think of the TV incarnation.) Rick Flag and Enchantress can return, though Enchantress needs to be a little de-powered otherwise she should really whip just about anyone. All of the characters in SS1 were a little broken, and I think that motif can continue here. Metallo's a guy with no heart (literally), King Shark is a monster (sorta like Croc), Killer Frost is literally cold, and Silver Swan...I dunno, there's a shortage of good Wonder Woman villains.
I actually really liked her. And I thought that moment where WW was going to smash her, and her mask came off, and WW realizes that Dr. Poison, too, was as much a victim of war as anyone was wonderful and powerful. I'm not sure she'd work pulled into the modern era. Certainly, you could write it that she came up with some potion that let her become immortal, but I'd rather her story arc stay complete in WW. It undermines that moment of mercy in WW if she returns to villainy. Also, does the team really need a member whose ability is to make poison gas? Another thing...SS1 had another good guy--Katana--serving on the team. I like the idea of a lesser-known superhero on the team. Who would you pick? I'd like to see someone like Vixen or Question or Starfire.
Vixen or Huntress. Question...he's tricky, people might think "isn't this the guy from Watchmen? Is that canon now?".
I was thinking more a Winter Soldier diesel-punk stasis pod. If she can make video game power pills, she could make that. But your point about her character arc has merit.
I want to see the Riddler, Braniac and Grundy in something. Not all together, but in one of the movies. My ultimate wish would be the Leagon of Doom.
Wonder Woman is about to pass Batman v Superman's domestic take (but is still well short of its worldwide tally).
That sounds about right. Batman and Superman are probably more well known characters worldwide. They've each had multiple live action and animated versions. Prior to this WW only had the Lynda Carter show and appearances on Superfriends and the JL cartoon. I doubt non-Americans would be familiar with those shows. Also a female protagonist showing off a bit of skin might not play well in certain countries. I wonder how well this did in Israel?
