DC cinematic universe thread.

Box Office Mojo doesn't show a tally for Israel, though imdb says the film was released there on June 1st.

I imagine since it's a major film and has an Israeli actress in the lead, it will generate pretty good box office there.

And, WW just passed the domestic box office for BvS.

It's going to beat Man of Steel's(!!!) worldwide take, but my guess is it won't overtake Suicide Squad (about $80 million short).

DC's gotta be pretty friggin' happy about this one.

I saw GL!. Also, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, MM, Nightwing, Huntress, Supergirl, GA, Grundy... a bunch of others. This premiered before Wonder Woman, but I doubt they're going to have all of those characters in movies. Justice League does feel naked without Green Lantern though.

If WW can just squeeze out another 45 million, it'll beat Suicide Squad's global take.

Maybe...it's going to be close.

Not the Green Lantern I was referring to, but we shall see.

Wonder Woman has now passed Suicide Squad's worldwide total. It's unadjusted for inflation, but that's only a few percent, so it's pretty much a done deal. This puts Wonder Woman as DC's second highest grossing film ever, second only to BvS (which looks out of reach).

And its passed Deadpool's domestic take.

Take with a grain of salt...
Wonder Woman 2 is set in the 80's in the final days of the Cold War.

And...

I don't see how, but we'll see.

The director of "The Shallows", is the frontrunner for "Suicide Squad 2".
Remember, David Ayer has gone over to "Gotham City Sirens".

Looks like Shazam is going to be the first post-Justice League DCEU film.
They've got a director and producer, still haven't casted Shazam.

Why is DC pushing Shazam so hard in recent years? I mean they've been really pushing him and Cyborg really hard when most people don't care about them. Most people know the core, Superman, Batman, WW, GL, and Aquaman. It's been really annoying recently with the animated movies and now the movies, I just don't get it.

Shazam has been in Development Hell since 2000, so they desperately want to recoup those development costs.
They WANT to cash in on The Rock, but he stubbornly wants to be Black Adam, so they have to get Shazam out of the way to get to Black Adam.
If he'd just played ball, and been Shazam, this could have been over with.
After all this bullshit, Black Adam had better be movie history making level good.

I like the Rock, but he seems old to be playing a super hero.

In a perfect world, after The Dark Knight and Iron Man when Marvel announced the MCU, WB should offered Nolan a gazillion dollars along with the ability to make other movies he wants to make and let Nolan devise a plan for DC going forward. Since that didn't happen, they should have given Nolan a gazillion dollars during Man of Steel to devise a plan going forward. Since that didn't happen, then after BvS, they should have found a Kevin Fiege type, Patty Jenkins perhaps, to come up with a plan going forward. The should do JL followed by GL, followed by The Batman (introduce Nightwing, Catwoman, ect) Followed by GL (introduce John Stewart and expose us to a larger universe) followed by Man of Steel two (Braniac and Lex team up), then follow up with lessor known characters.

By the weekend, we should hopefully finally know the layout of their new release slate.

Hollywood Reporter says Affleck is out as Batman after Justice League, but they're keeping it secret until after JL comes out, and makes its money, and that they're working on a plan to ease him out as the character.
Blatant recast? Batman dies, and Nightwing takes over? A dip in the Lazarus pit?
That's what they're trying to figure out.

Also, Warners is allegedly developing a "Harley Quinn vs Joker", movie on top of "Suicide Squad 2", and "Gotham City Sirens".

Jesus Christ, Warners, it's like you're opening every candy bar in the box, and taking a bite out of each one.

Very dismayed to hear Affleck is out, because that probably means a reboot, and that means Irons and Simmons are out, too.

Batfleck is already connected to the Man of Steel, Wonder Woman, Justice League, and Suicide Squad franchises, so how can Batman be rebooted and maintain those ties?

Or are they just going to recast?

I really, really, really hope they don't do something dumb like making someone else [Dick Grayson, etc.] Batman in order to preserve the existing connections.
