You know what I believe about the Roman Catholic Church.

I can only go with what I and others like me believe.

Yep, and it's flat out naive denial.
Catholics were extra-crispy-bucket-of-Christian, and corruption got to them pretty damned quick.

If you think your church wouldn't start disappearing people, keeping scary secrets, and raping kids if it suddenly had all the money, and power, and control over everyone's lives, then I have swampland in Florida I want to sell you.

I'd say it sounds like being a robot, but even a robot can be upgraded.

It's the internet, don't Australia and the UK and Canada have these great, essential, federal-type websites for retarded kids also?; our disabled can just use theirs.

If they don't, why the fuck not? Not like America's exactly exceptional or anything. Be great to see the whole Dept burned to the ground - states will still get the same money from the feds without the baggage.

    Outsourcing government? Hey, why not.

You know, I can understand the belief that federal influence on education should be reduced, even if I don't necessarily agree. But unless there's going to be zero federal involvement, you'd think protecting disabled kids would be one of the areas that would remain intact. Instead, the most vulnerable are the first to get screwed. Fancy that.

Hmm, being okay with screwing over and even harming the helpless, there's a word for that....it's at the tip of my tongue....it starts with "s",...rhymes with "poopremacist"...

It has a shorter name, starts with "n", and has a "z", in the middle, but if you say it, the people it applies to have a tantrum fit.

That's what you get when actually looking at the link.

So we can either safely disregard anything you post as being willfully uninformed, or you couldn't figure out why Australia, UK, or Canada might not publish information on disabled peoples rights under US law.

    Which is it?

Federal government has no business crowding out state and local charities, community organizations and churches that used to carry the burden of helping parents with retarded kids. That the D.O. Ed. exists at all is solely a testament to Jimmy Carter's desire to please the teachers unions. If fedgov through the DOEd has been unable to improve national results of non-retarded kids, why on earth are they even trusted to take more onto its plate?

The fact that Bush added a 'never leave the little kid's behinds' (gratuitous catholic priest perv joke) is an overreach piled on top of an outrage - it's an outrage that the DOE exists at all, never mind that it's reach was further broadened to areas so far outside the intended grasp of the fed gov based on even the most liberal interpretation of the broadest possible reading of a simple six page constitution). Bush was wrong, along with every expansion of federal power in something that has nothing to do with the fed gov, beyond perhaps borrowing more from China to send a few more dollars aid to the worst performers.

So if I believe the entire federal DOE is a waste of taxpayer money, then do you really believe I care that the teachers union fired up a few parents of retarded kids to complain about some website being deleted that might have helped taxpayers spend *more* federal tax dollars by making it easier to navigate the byzantine maze of federal legislation and tomes of regulations to grab more of that 'parents-with-retarded-kids-cheese'? Oh, and also skimp on spending lawyer fees (think of all the out of work lawyers that could have done that research)?

The only reason the left is even *hearing* about this appointment in a relatively unimportant department is because the teachers union is terrified of competition, for obvious and self-serving reasons. The only people in favor of keeping inner city and minority kids in failing public schools are the teachers with pensions on the line if those kids can choose a different school.

And the hypocrisy of the left, ceaseless and tireless, abounds yet again, with the likes of Flipping Feather Warren and Cory Booker (formerly both proponents of charter schools and school choice, but now rabidly opposed for political reasons like candidate 2020 or selling votes to teacher union interests).

A lot to chew on here… I don't really have the time nor the energy at this point to get into all of it. All I'll say is this: we have a president who sees the disabled as targets for mockery and ridicule. We have a government set to dismantle 80+ years of protections against the strong preying on the weak. We have a bunch of wolves salivating in anticipation of the feast. To me, it represents a bigger issue than one website being taken down.

I get that POTUS can set the tone. Bully Trump, if he in fact targets weak, is offensive to me. I felt the same way when Bill Clinton lowered America's standards for character/integrity when he wagged his finger at America ("I did not have sex") and debated the meaning of "is." As I also felt when Obama helped set a righteous case for killing cops to fix what he saw as a racially unfair system ("[Shootings in Baton Rouge and St Paul] are symptomatic of a broader set of racial disparities that exist in our criminal justice system."). So I will be just as disgusted if I see POTUS Trump condoning or justifying bullying. But DeVos and eliminating the DOE aren't about bullying, it's a policy fight, spurred by an insecure teachers union.

As to "a government set to dismantle 80+ years of protections against the strong preying on the weak", I have not yet seen even a hint of that. Removing or repealing government cheese does not equal preying on weak; in fact, using other eyes it can be seen as a kick in the pants to go fend for oneself and only resort to seeking help from the fed. government when all other avenues have been exhausted. Besides, fedgov spends a full one-fifth of our entire GDP, and all that spending is not going anywhere soon, which is outrageous given the only actual function the federal government effectively provides is our armed forces. Most of the rest is fat, of a very wealthy society.

"Due process" and "equal protection" are as firm as ever (crackpot US judges even try to extend these concepts to foreigners on foreign soil). The US judiciary is independent. The press is free to (and does) refer to Trump in all manner of unflattering terms. Donald Trump is a hateful bigot and the most evil person on the face of the earth. There. Funny, but I don't fear Trump's Stasi to come disappear me in the night.

And we still can't legislate against assholes and loudmouths, all we can do is prosecute criminals, if asshole loudmouths feel empowered because "their guy" is in power, I'll join you in being just as disgusted and opposed to that kind of shit as I was when criminals shot cops because they felt empowered when they thought the last POTUS was just egging them on. Seriously. Aside from people saying a lot stuff about Trump - who is obnoxious and unlikable in many respects - I still haven't seen the actual, factual, incidents, although I see lots of inferences and allegations that shit's really getting real.

Because in the propaganda being referenced, he is not making fun of the reporter for being disabled, he is making fun of what he said. Furthermore, he did so in a manner which he had used on other critics (who were not disabled), which is to say in a very juvenile manner, but it was clear that it was intended to represent someone who was flustered.

Did you even see the video? Yeah...he was making fun of what he said with the "I don't remember!", but he was also making fun of his disability with the way he was saying it and flopping his arms around and shit. It was undeniablely making fun of his disability.

Right, and Cap'n X is a fool for even trying to deny it.
This --- more than anything else --- made me think Whoa, we have a true asshole on our hands. As Garrison Keillor put it, the cruellest presidential candidate since George Wallace. (But Wallace, in the end, admitted he was wrong, something Donald will do only when hell freezes over.)

    YouTube.

Here's an example (skip to 27:03):

Does Cruz have a disability which Trump is mocking? :bailey:

Here's a video which not only shows this example, but another in which he makes fun of a general, as well as the context for Trump making fun of the reporter to begin with. It's a biased source, but they make a pretty good argument and back it up.

I don't think you realize when you show all these videos of Trump doing that "all those other times" and not just at this one reporter, all you're doing is damning Trump and you even more.

Everyone knows what those motions mean.

Everyone knows that those motions intend to mock the disabled.

Just because he's done it more than once, does not mean he wasn't mocking one disabled reporter. It means he was mocking all disabled people.

And, *this* is the person you want to represent you?

This is why no one can take you seriously.

So whenever he mocks anybody, which is often, he mimics gestures stereotypically associated with disabled or handicapped individuals. Good to know. Kind of like, "I call everybody retard! No offense to any actual retards." :dayton:

I honestly don't care if it does. What matters to me is the truth. If Trump is to be damned, then he should be damned for what he actually is. The claim was that he was mocking a reporter for a disability, and this was based entirely off of a screencap. It is provable that this is not the case. So now all you're doing is shifting the goal post, much like the press did in this case to cover its own embarrassment over being proven wrong of something they'd previously accused Trump of doing.

No, I voted for Ron Paul.

And your assumption that I back Trump because I'm calling out propaganda for what it is is one of many reasons why no one takes you seriously. :garamet:

And no one on Wordforge has ever called anyone else a retard, I'm sure. :diacanu:
