This is what I was talking about in the Helpdesk thread that set Paladin off. We are under no obligation to put up with that kind of behavior, and we don't need a rule that says no images of lynching to take the obvious step. Ramen has two weeks to figure it out or plan his next outrage.

I edited the thread to remove the image. Apparently even Flashlight was appalled by it.

It accomplishes the same thing of reducing the number of threads they are making, while also works better as a tool for dealing with it. With hyperbole intended, banning makes someone a martyr, boxsetting their threads into one "look at this dipshit" megathread makes people laugh at them.

Eh, I can go either way on that sort of thing, but shootER and Krieg thought he needed some time to cool his heels. Also worth noting, he was banned for a week for excessively spamming with nigger threads. He then came back and did the same thing. So escalating the response has merit.

I don't like this. It's a slippery slope. I'm fine (in favor of, in fact) a SFW thread title rule, but content censorship is about as bad as the content y'all want to censor here. At one point we had an "extreme trolling" rule (see Faceman/noodles), which Ramen would have been warned under (BTW, when did we start punishment at bans instead of warnings?), and the post edited. Bringing that back would likely be a shitstorm unto itself, but at least that's not censorship. Under the proposed rules, even academic discussions, or use of the image as rhetoric (perhaps to answer the smartass-asked question "Why is racism bad?") would be ban-worthy, and I don't like that at all. And then how long before other un-PC content is censored? No, I don't like this at all.

My actual thoughts on this are similar, except enact new rules if you want the ban to be justified. Of course I'm going to argue about the proposed new rules, but process first.
