Two reports in the Rules Update thread, one for a flame against John, the first for calling El Chup's ex a terrorist. I'd warn him for both at minimum, and outright ban him for the terrorist comment, but I want to make sure the board rules are set in place and that it's in violation. Also, I'm moving the Help Desk to the top of the forums list.
I reported him both times. It's just easy for such things to go unnoticed especially if everybody is used to a certain posting style. I have a rather low tolerance for Help Desk flames/trolls in general.
Agreed, those reports are why I started this thread. I'd have warned him without question, but the attack on Chup's ex is so egregious that I'm not going to do anything w/o input from the others.
Oh, and the Help Desk was moved down the forum list because it was thought that for n00bs thinking about coming here, having our "shit, look at these problems" forum at the top might give the wrong impression.
Interesting perspective, though it's not a problem I've encountered at Lonaf or seen at TK. I moved it out of annoyance that it's 'out of sight out of mind' at the bottom.
I see where Lanz in coming at. We don't have to air all our dirty laundry for n00bs to see as soon as they found the place. OTOH, the HD isn't just Bitchin' and Moanin' () about whatever mod target is popular to piss on this week; people have genuine technical/board questions as well. After the last year, I understand a little better why T'Bonz reigned in the MA board. As for Dinner, I'd give him a verbal reminder to cut the shit. He'll likely calm down. I'll reign myself in as well cuz I know some of my comments haven't helped.
1. Dinner knew what he was doing, and had already been verbally warned IIRC. I say give him a week to calm down. 2. A majority of the owners said yes to the Packard Amendment, although it hasn't been added to the rules.
Since the board rules haven't been officially updated (could someone please do that? I'm occupied by RL stuff today) I'm fine with a couple of warnings if you want. Once the new rule is in place, people will have had plenty of warning.
The rule should be made official, but the fact that it hasn't been formalized just yet shouldn't constrain taking action. If people think the posts are beyond the norm of simple over the top posting, then give him a week off, and prepare for Chup to step in and defend him against being banned for calling his ex a terrorist. Also, like shootER said, make the rule official. I have been incredibly busy the past few weeks, so I apologize for my recent disengagement, but I think the place is in good hands. And to be clear, I favor the week off.
I'd suggest avoiding any perma-bans for a while, unless somebody does something really stupid. Like posting somebody's home address or making death threats against another poster. Also, make an official announcement about this, and include why and for how long he's suspended. Don't make people figure it out on their own.
Can we put the Help Desk back? As others have said there was a reason it was where it was. Lack of visibility was a problem, and now it's pushed the RR down past the first page on my computer, which is just fucking annoying.
Are you on a 680x480 monitor? Seriously though, I see what you mean in terms of the RR being at the 'bottom'.
I think that could be fixed by rolling the TK sanctuary into the RR and making the Warning Zone and AED Login Reports into Shelter subforums, though.
Yeah, I like it at the bottom of the page like Lanzman said. No need to put dirty laundry out on the front porch.
Honestly, we could roll the TK sanctuary into RR anyway. No one's posted in there in months and they've got more of our refugees looking to post there than we have any of theirs.
