Seriously, though, I can see the reasoning behind banning him. His racism and bigotry have become blatant, though the more I read his past history I see it's always been there, I just missed it. That's probably a failing on my part. Still, it sets a precedent; If he is banned, then excessively, unrepentant racists are at risk for being booted. I'm not saying don't, as that's not my decision to make by any stretch, just saying that it will complicate things.

I'd make a full on policy about racist slurs, but I don't see what turning Dinner into Polarslam 2.0 will ultimately fix. Well stated, and I completely agree. I tried to see this from every angle I could, to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but it's clear the members who are full bore racist have no intention of dialing back or respecting others' wishes. My word has zero weight, I know, but I would agree with some kind of ban on racism. Yeah, TBBS has it, so does Starscape, and like you say even TK is pushing it away, because this is a different era, Google is everywhere, everything is indexed, nothing is left unknown for long, and the racism just really needs to stop anyway.

His rep was removed for a time because it was felt that he was abusing it, primarily because he would spam rep in rooms outside of the Red Room. It was restored not too long afterwards, if I recall correctly.

^^^ Yeah, that's how I remember it. I think we did the same thing to Baba a few years ago when he was being particularly nutty.

Gul turned it off two years ago cuz at that point Flashy was doing nothing *but* negging people. Some people were receiving 150+ a day.

If that's the case, then I don't see a reason to remove either poster's rep ability because both of them do contribute posts in addition to their neg reps.
