Simple question. After you're done at the grocery store, do you return your shopping cart/trolley where it goes? In other words, do you return it to one of the designated dropoff spots in the parking lot, or up by the front of the store?

Or do you just leave your cart/trolley wherever you want?

I'll rearrange the damn carts in the corral to make the worker's lives slightly easier, too.

Yes, but I don't clean up after other people, usually, unless it's necessary to avoid making things worse myself. Like, if I used a small cart and there's a big cart in the small cart return area, I'll move the big cart to the proper area before inserting mine into the row. But, if there's already several small and big carts mixed together, I'm not going to reorganize the entire return rack.

    1. They are called Buggies.

    2. People that don’t take their buggies back to the corral are some of the most wretched scum and villains in the universe (and none whatsoever in anti-hero sense).

All of my friends have a good laugh when I tell them of the people I have met in my travels who call them buggies.

As for the carts leave them in the collection area. Some parking lots seem to be designed to leave the carts in between the fronts of cars, and they have no designated spaces for them around here. It seems to be a publix thing in some of their parking lots.

I do seem to end up at the store at least once every other day so I normally leave my cart in the store and just carry the bags. Ever since I stopped drinking soda I have found I do not need to lug around something I need a cart for. Also since the great TP drought of the Trump era I have started to get my paper products in bulk from the internet so I rarely cannot carry my shopping back to the car. Diabetes also makes me cook so I need fresh food, and old people land means the publix is just across the street.

I think I am getting spoiled by the Duh.

Used to be a trolley collector in my teens for extra cash, so I always put the trolleys in their collection points now to make it easy on the poor sods doing it for a living.

    I have to:

You dont have to use coins, most supermarkets give a branded token for free and you can keep using that...

First off, that whole idea ends up fucked after an hour when the carts are all over the place and you just need to push your cart to the nearest cart and your get your coin back.

The next problem is how secure is that? I could probably easily machine a easy thing that would either work like a coin that I could get back, or pop the coin out like I plugged in a cart.

Aldi here does it, sure you could easily make a mechanism to mimic a coin, but for a dollar (which you can get back when you return the trolley) it's not worth it.

That said I generally don't use them. Rarely carry coins nowadays, and not interested in buying the keychain thing since it's purpose is mainly to be constant advertising for the store.

It's an idea. Or maybe you just hire some people to round up the carts more often. It is not like we don't have people who could use a job that pays them a living wage.

I put myself through university working at a grocery store.

Always put the shopping cart back.

People who just leave the cart wherever they want are most likely anti-maskers and Donald Trump voters. In other words, the scum of the earth.

    we just call'em "carts" here...

I generally only use the bundle buggy styles that you don't take out of the store anyways as I only buy about a gym bag worth of groceries at a time.

True, though as I said - I worked the job for extra cash as a teen (16-18). In the UK, at least, jobs like that are usually expected by management to be filled by high schoolers (who get a lower point on the national minimum wage - £4.81/hr for 16-18 year olds, increasing up to full wage of £9.50 at 23+).

Yes, unless you’re at the Safeway on S street. Then you don’t return your cart because there are none.

Fred Meyer officially calls them 'bascarts'. Hell, even the USPS calls similar contraptions used in the station that too.

In the south a cart is a buggy and all sodas are cokes. You can take the boy out of the south, but you can’t take the south out of the boy.

So apparently the poll should have been whether you call them shopping carts, trolleys, or something stupid like buggies.

I’ve even been known to use my truck to return shopping carts that were taken off-premises of the nearest grocery store to me by people (homeless? Teenagers?) and left there.

for instance if they call it a "buggy", you can be certain they're bad people with a family history of buying into Amway...

I never leave it near my vehicle. I never walk it over to the cart corral. I fire it from a distance and often record the impact with my phone, assuming it makes the corral.

Corral is a euphemism for women.

    Cart is your ejaculate.

"assuming it makes the corral" means it never does.

"record the impact with my phone" means exactly that.
