I enjoyed it a lot and would like to see it again on screen before it leaves theaters. Upon first viewing I have no complaints. Maybe the script was a bit chaotic but that fits in with the title and with Wanda being a user of chaos magic. I could maybe have used a bit more zaniness… we really only got spend time in two alternate universes and I was hoping to see them spend time in a few more… but maybe What If is better suited for that. I loved seeing Wanda go fully insane and tear shit up… thats straight from the Avengers Disassembled comic storyline. Black Bolt and Captain Carter got some gruesome deaths. Richards and Xavier too. Don’t think we’ve seen that level of brutality in a Marvel film before. That was some Mortal Kombat level stuff.
I wonder what the sequel to Multiverse of Madness will be like? Will it pick up right from where Multiverse ended? What are your thoughts fellow Wordforgers regarding what a sequel might or should be like to Multiverse?
The difference between Wanda and Peter Parker was that knowledge of Parker's identity hurt others. Wanda needed to work through her pain without lashing out like a spoiled child. As for ripping everyone through universes, I don't think Strange really had an opportunity to stop for a minute and even consider that option for her.
50/50 it'll either pick up where it left off, or there'll be a time jump, and Strange and Clea will be wrapping up their cosmic battle like the beginning of Guardians 2, and then they'll move on to some other plot.
Maybe we will finally get Mephisto? Speaking of upcoming movies, I really want a good Silver Surfer movie. Especially after seeing that Living Tribunal cameo. And a proper introduction to Galactus. They can skip the Fantastic Four and the X-Men honestly. I understand the importance of the FF in Marvel Comics history but I just don’t think they are all that interesting these days. So many other better characters they could go with. The X-Men are probably my favorite of all comic book properties but we’ve gotten a lot of them already with movies and animated series. I am looking forward to the animated series revival. Love the 90s/Jim Lee X-Men.
Did you see the 80's John Byrne run where She-Hulk replaced Thing? Oh, man, that combo was like accidentally discovering peanut butter and chocolate! Good stuff.
Finally got to stream it. Great movie. The first since Endgame in the MCU that I would watch again. Makes me feel better about grinding through WandaVision (which I found mediocre).
So I’m finally watching Doctor Strange and the Oh my God this is Boring. I’m no longer clear what makes these marvel movies movie worthy. Like the set up is just a preamble justification for a bunch of shitty cgi. These are no longer movies. Just episodes. And it makes me regret watching Wandavision.
WTF they named their own universe number 838! Were they like we shouldn’t be presumptuous and call ourselves universe 1. We’re probably not the best. Or even second best. Maybe we’re 838th. Jesus.
Too many old white men were in charge, they recognized this and therefore knew their universe was not the best.
The easiest inference to draw is they didn't start the cataloging, someone else did, and they picked up where these other folks left off. The universe 818-Strange blew up was probably #1.
If they don't address this in the sequel, Dr. Strange Prying Open My Third Eye, then I'm done with the MCU.
I assumed that whoever discovered the multiverse there saw the different universes existing along a spectrum, and was able to roughly calculate their own universe's place along that spectrum. If watching Sliders taught me one thing, it's the importance of knowing exactly where your home universe is located in case you ever need to get back to it.
Is Pizza Pappa the same pizza place that Peter Parker delivers for in Spider-Man 2? It just crossed my mind that it could be.
If dreams are actually just stuff happening to our alternate selves in parallel universes, there are a disturbing amount of universes where people just show up to random high school and college classes years after they graduate, in their underwear or naked, and no one seems to care much.
Watched it last night and...it was fun I guess? Felt a little underwhelming for the whole multiverse thing, it was less crazy than what we've seen in Loki, the fan service wasn't as good as No Way Home, and reveals like Captain Carter were already explored in What If. The alternate universe they spend most of their time in was New York but with turf badly rolled out around the place. I was surprised by Wanda being evil from the start, really thought they were going to go with her being good at least initially based on the end of WandaVision, so that was nice.
I’ve always had this thought that dreams are your soul swapping places with you or someone else in an alternate universe.
