I'm gonna go ahead and head canon that the TARDIS, through whatever magical mumbo jumbo that explains so much else, automatically generates for them the exact wardrobe they need for wherever they just landed. Best episode this season (I know, I know)
Best episode in a long time even though my theory was wrong, this year is turning out pretty good so far.
By what standard? I haven't seen the latest episode yet, but the first episode was some of the worst Who we've seen since babies in space, and the second episode wasn't bad but certainly doesn't rank amongst the best Who. Other than "73 Yards" from last season, so far the return of Russell T. Davies has been a big dud, IMO.
I want to say something serious, not trolling. I started watching Dr. Who this week on Pluto TV. The only episode I had seen prior to this week was 10+ years ago and it was a Christmas special because everyone on YT had suggested I started with a Christmas special because they are always good. The episode I watched, I didn’t like. I don’t even remember who the Doctor was at the time, but it wasn’t the female doctor. Having said that, the Doctor Who episodes I’ve been watching on Pluto are good. I’ve been watching them for a week now and I started from the beginning. I do admit that I’ve been watching them in the background without actually paying too much attention to the plot, but it reminds me a lot of Star Trek TOS. The sets and costumes look like they’re stuck in the 60s It doesn’t bother me because I still love the TOS sets and costumes look, but I do wonder why it still looks the same. Maybe it’s the BBC budget? Anyway, I’m up to the 6th Doctor so far. It’s a weird show and very British. I’m currently watching The Twin Delma .Lots of great boobs for the companions over the years.
It's not one of the best lol, but the standard has being so low lately this one looked good. I'd say it's one of the best since Jodies last episode, possible exceptions are the one with the mine and the racist planet.
I actually liked "Boom" considerably better than 73 Yards. I thought the latter was technically incredibly well executed but the fact that the actually story doesn't end up making any sense at all took me out of it completely.
Now THAT was proper Doctor Who, with effectively no Doctor. By FAR the best episode of this Doctor's run. If this isn't a set up for what happened to the Earth after Belinda left then it's an utter waste. also, I would have been DEEPLY disappointed if they hadn't given Conrad a close-up experience with the Shreek. also also It's SO refreshing to see 15 get fucking serious in someone's face instead of so much exaggerated clowning. (I don't expect it to last)
This was the second best episode of this Doctor's run. "73 Yards" is by far the best, despite your inability to comprehend the story.
So Tubi has 24/7 Doctor Who and so does Pluto TV, but Tubi includes episodes that don't air on Pluto like the animated Who which I'm quite enjoying. The show in general reminds me of TOS and that's a good thing.
You'd have hated him - his schtick was that UNIT were actually faking alien activity with special effects and crisis actors in order to get military funding.
This entire thing will go right over FF's head, but man did Gatwa give a barn burner of a performance here.
This week's ep is glorious and really draws on African heritage and the experiences of that culture. I initially felt it sad that this Doctor no longer feels "safe" in some places due to their physical appearance (even if the ep then immediately points out that he's still an outsider in whatever human community he tries to join). But I really can't see any prior Doctor (except one specific one who appears this week) not being an outsider in African culture either, so it's possibly turnabout. We are firmly into the "Doctor interacts with/fights Gods" stuff we got towards the end of Seven's era and the New Adventures novels. And he just picked a fight with Thor!! Or at least Hemsworth... random diss out of NOWHERE!
14 episodes in and this is the third(? Maybe fourth?) where I read Chuti as "The Doctor" - he's so much better at this role when there's gravity rather than frivolity. Is this the first time they've released two proper Doctor Who episodes in a row since Davies got back? (or at least since 14 stepped aside)
I hear that this week the Dr. says he feels comfortable as a black man in a barbershop in Africa. Do the writers know that he's an alien? Do they also know he's like hundreds of years old?
Why assume it's truth if you haven't watched the show? The veracity if the source then matters all the more.
This week's ep was fun, but dunno how it'll play with the US crowd since the USA doesn't compete (obvs) in Eurovision, nor (and be thankful - just kidding, he's OK) would you likely know who Rylan Clarke is. Good to see a darker side of the Doctor, plus we finally get the resolution of the Mrs. Flood thing. And a long-awaited return, a voice not heard since the first episode of the series... no, not Graham Norton (waves!) accidentally talking over Rose, and I don't mean NuWho anyway...
I'd have been much more satisfied with a story in which I don't mind the "yes mum" servileness to the obvious contempt though. I hope that they end up addressing the constant "last of the Time Lords" comments when he knows full well that there are potentially a couple of others running around the timeline and the universe. Surely Belinda will say at some point "I thought you said...?"
