Have you seen him? Like of Shatner's documentary. He's very very strange. I don't think he'd give a straight answer about anything.
He was the best part of that documentary! Strange guy but interesting. I'd rather watch an hour of him babbling than five seconds of Nana Visitor.
I presume the list of DS9 alumni is just the ones they have gotten interviews with or who are directly involved otherwise. I imagine more people might get interviewed as time goes by, word spreads, ambition increases, that sort of thing. But I had the impression Avery Brooks was never hot on TV acting to begin with. Aside from the Captains documentary, has he even been doing anything Trek-related since the show ended?
According to his IMDb listing, he's only got four acting credits since DS9 ended and one of those was for the Star Trek: Legacy video game as Sisko.
Brooks was (and may still be) a full professor at Rutgers University. He’s also a musician, and has done stage and film work, among other things. Rumor has it he didn’t want his children growing up in Hollywood, so he commuted from New Jersey during the shooting of DS9, flying home on weekends to be with his family, then flying back to L.A.
Well they exceeded their goal by four. http://www.space.com/35991-star-trek-ds9-documentary-crowdfunding-success.html Other sources say they made even more. I just sent them $35. DS9 remains a go to show for me in a time when I rarely turn the TV on anymore.
