    I dunno.

I strangely find myself willing to possibly give him a chance at Media Central. Everyone on this board practically has been one sort of a troll or another at one point and trolling alone doesn't necessarily mean someone is untrustworthy.

We have average posters in here, observing, who see so-called private information from time to time. And it's not as if he couldn't be fired if he does become a problem of some sort.

I know that Elwood wants to keep the staff to people of a particular trust level, but with people leaving and positions going unfilled, I really think that position needs to be rethought. I'm not saying let's get Tasvir in here or polarslam, but maybe a bit more leeway to get some new insight and a new viewpoint. Otherwise we run the risk of stagnation.

    Just something to chew over.

Wasn't Crosis gone for a long time until recently?

I think Flashlight would be a very good moderator for Media Central, and that's saying something.

Flashlight can't post MC threads in MC as a poster, but suddenly he'll be able to as a mod? I say nay. Crosis... er... Skippy... sounds like an all right kinda guy.

Personally I don't think Flashlight really wants to be a MC mod. Complaining that he's not a mod has been working for him. The invented injustice would be ruined if he actually became a mod.

Tex has contributed more to the forum than Flashlight and he would be a fine choice as moderator.

Crosis (Skippy) wouldn't be a bad choice either.

And as always I'm willing to help out in most any capacity. If need be I'd have no trouble modding MC.

I agree that he would probably not be bad. But then... with his latest thread I see a landslide of 'xyz for mod!!!' because it has worked one time.

One vote "no". I just don't think he would do a very good job. He doesn't seem to have the right online personality for it. Just my opinion, for what it's worth.

You presume incorrectly that this is a democracy.

I seem to recall Elwood placing Flashlight in the "Not just no, but HELL no" category for staff.

Would it be possible to "try him out?"

Kind of like a lease to buy program?

Can someone be made a moderator with no Shelter access? I mean if Flashlight is as good as he thinks he is, then he should be able to impress us with this uber-mod mega skillz and no privacy or trust issues would be a problem.

And if he is just being a shitbox trying to get in here, we ruin that and his persecution complex all in one move.

Yes, it is possible, in fact, very easy to do it.

Flaslight and Crosis should both be given a month trial together, in case one of them doesn't work out. We used to have two...

Clyde, I think of your talents would be better spent in the more busy rooms...

Back up the board first. :marathon:

Incidentally, what powers do mods have currently? Been a while since I've been one.

Put him in the fucking Shelter or don't mod him at all.

Aside from destroying the time space continuim, what harm can he do?

This is still ultimately Elwood's call...it's his production, we just direct.

But I see no reason not to try them out on a trial basis sans Shelter access.

Either that, or give the Shelter a subforum for the sensitive issues...IP, PMs, Sensitive discussions involving really private issues, and use the Shelter purely for Mod discussions, Forum business ect.

I just really think we need to be able to expand and experiment with different personalities on the staff but still be mindful of trust/privacy issues. Otherwise we really will become Eliteforge and as I said before, stagnate.

Anything not meant for the Shelter could be handled via PM, no Elite Sub Forum is needed.

out of rep, but agreed. Some of you people act like he's going to go running his mouth about everything he reads in here or use his powers to fuck something up. He just wants to be a part of what makes the board run, and since he is someone who has been here since the beginning, I can understand how it'd be frustrating to just have the "hell no" stamped next to your name forever.

Is there nothing he can ever do to be a mod now? I've fucked up. Tamar has fucked up. Many people who are mods have made mistakes, trolled, etc. I don't get why he is singled out. Did he beat someone's dog or something?

Elwood doesn't want him here...he doesn't trust him. Bottom line.

I'm looking at a compromise option that might convince him to give him a shot.

Otherwise it's going to be no. For the only reason that matters in the end:

    Because Elwood said so.
