I'm not sure if Ron Paul is naive enough to believe that masses of Obama voters would suddenly become libertarians if they had better information. I think that might just be part of how he's trying to sell his message, i.e., presenting it as something everyone ought to want. However, this was a talk given at the Mises Institue, (read: a crowd of highly educated loyal supporters) not a political rally or a tv appearance. I think he would have a much better shot at winning your average McCain voter to his side based on information alone.

He's an idealist, I'll say that.

The reason why most people aren't libertarians? Because the Libertarian Party is preaching to a group they've already won: themselves. They need to lighten up on their rhetoric, work from the ground up (mayors, city councils, THEN states, THEN national elections).

And while I said lighten up on the rhetoric (THE FEDERAL RESERVE IS EVIL, BOOGA BOOGA BOOGA), they shouldn't go the route of the Greens; placing their core issue secondary (The Greens have become something of a funnel for the political sensible socialists/communists).

Palin ain't the future of the GOP so forget any talk about "Palin Republicans." The GOP has to look elsewhere for leadership.

    Leadership? LEADERSHIP?!

This country and the political cabals that control it have lacked real leadership for so long it's frightening. The Bush adminstration was the closest thing to leadership (for the Republican Party, not the country), but the President forced Neoconservatism on a party that didn't want it and the party rebelled.

Right now, it's even worse. The GOP is in ruins and no savior in sight.

The article seems to imply that Palin is the Savior of the GOP but I ain't buying it.

I like it that way. Now let Obama finish the Dems and maybe we'll get this mess under control.

Nah! But she's done wonders for my sex drive.

^The Democrats don't have any real leadership either. The Democrats don't close ranks like the Republicans do, and I fully expect there to be a battle for domination between Obama, Pelosi, and Dean once the honeymoon has worn off.

And Obama will lose. The real president will be Pelosi.

I just threw up a little in my mouth...
