Packard it depends on what the Haitian makes him forget. HRG ordered him to remove anything that would lead his company to Claire. That doesn't mean "everything about the ways he has changed his mind since Claire developed powers." It means, at a minimum, that he knew Claire had powers and that he collaborated with the Haitian in putting her on the run.

Indeed, he may have only made a one-time exception for her and would have been just as hardcore about others with powers as he always was. Or post-memory wipe, he could come to the conclusion that "The company's policies forced Claire to go on the run. Man, the company sucks."

Do you at least agree that he's not the bad guy we all once thought him to be?

Yes. [fluffy sniffs around for a trap]

I really like what they did with his character this episode, it reminded me a little of the Farscape episode "Incubator," which developed Scorpius (a main bad guy) into a morally "gray" character - with motivations we could begin to understand, and maybe even sympathize with.

That kind of treatment makes for a great villain, and sometimes even for a hero (maybe a Han Solo-type, or like the Punisher). If Mr. Horn Rim turned out to be just a company man - he'd probably never have been able to reach hero status, but now that we've seen his independent (insurrectionist?) streak, it's going to depend on what else he does.

E.g. assuming we take at face value the scene where Bennet tried to assassinate the Invisible Man (the guy I called Claude), how's Bennet going to make it up to him? Probably saving Claire - plus the Hatian - can help demonstrate his new spots, but if he continues to round up mutants for the Company without further rebellious actions, there's bound to be some powerful people powerfully angry with him (especially now without the Hatian to wipe their memories). Bennet's now in a really tough spot, which is a perfect place from which he can show that he's a hero to more people than his little girl.

    All, obviously, imo.

    I'm wondering why Hiro's dad doesn't seem to know/care about Hiro's power.

We don't know what he knows.

But in Papa Nakamura's defense, Hiro's power would be the least easy to catch in the act and document. If you just monitored DL, Niki, or most of the other heroes long enough, you would get to see them do something special.

We don't even know if Hiro is his biological son. It may be that just as Claire got placed with HRG that Hiro got placed with him.

Or he may suspect that Hiro has an ability and sent the armed mystery men to collect him in an attempt to get him to show whether he has manifested an ability.

In any case, he may be playing dumb so as to prevent Hiro from being repoed by the organization he (presumably still) is a part of.

I'd swear that he didn't pull that trigger purposely. He seemed awfully shocked when it happened. I think another mutant working for the company with powers pulled it for him.

It was mentioned in the episode. When Bennett and the other guy are in the room with the cop and that lady. The guy tells Bennett that she is coming along nicely in that area.

Becasue it's not just Lye and Sandra but half the neighborhood, the police, and firefighters that saw what happened. The neighbors especially seeing Claire walk out all zombie like.

BTW IMHO that was one of the best moments in the show.

I think he may know. Since it seems they are tracking mutants. He may be wondering why Hiro is running around and probably knows that they met other mutants. Plus he seemed to find him pretty quick.

I'm wondering what the "company" is. Is it Japanese or American or both? Is it governmental? Is it the same company that Hiro's dad runs or is it seperate?

One thing I did notice is that in the paper mill as Bennett and the Cop are walking down the hallway they walk past a wall clock that says ODESSA on it. The camera seemed to focus on it. I wonder if that is a reference to Odessa "Organization of Former SS-Members" that was rumoured to have exsisted and helped SS officers escape.

Could the company be a cadre of former Nazi's and Japanese still dedicated to conquering the world? It would fit right in with a comic book twist. :soma:

Of course it could represent Odessa, Texas. Is the paper company located in that city? I can't rememeber.

Anyone this is a great show. I'm glad I didn't pass over it like Firefly. :D

Just FYI, "The Company" is a slang term reserved for the CIA.

And Odessa means Odessa, Texas, a real city in Texas and home of the fictional Primatech Paper.

Yep. Forgot about that but until they go into more detail about the company it could be anything. Plus I don't think it is CIA simply becasue this "company" seems more compentent about keeping their mouths shut. Even the people with the powers who are not working for the company don't go public! :soma:

But maybe the Nazi's picked it just for that reason. ;)

Personally I hope Nazi's are no where involved in the series.

for the first time since 'serenity' you have a show where you feel anyone can kick the bucket.

Jack Bauer can't kick the bucket, though.

On Heroes, it's safe to say they'll never kill once-and-for-all Hiro, HRG or Claire.

If Malcolm McDowell is anywhere near the Crisco when I come in the room I'm backing out rapidly, being careful to make sure his fist comes nowhere NEAR my ass.

    Where'd you see this?

I can believe that they will bring in a whole bunch of new "heroes" for want of a better word, but I'm pretty sure that they're aware that they would be risking alienating people if any of those three were permanently capped this season.

Of course, they might be more than making up for it by showing they had balls of steel.

Jack Bauer has died twice. [IMG]

Yeah, I'm sure that'll work out fine for her.

A great episode. I was more than disapointed when NBC showed Simone alive and well "Wanna shoot me again, lol?" right before the show came back from commercial. I literally yelled "fuck you NBC."

Turns out they pulled a fast one on us.

HD is very unflattering for Malcolm McDowell's face.
