I sold my Remington 7600 to help finance my purchase of a road bike. I guess I'm a damn dirty hippie now.

A rifle for a bicycle? Fuck man all you need is $80.00 and then get thine ass to Target or Wal-Mart.

An AR will be my next gun purchase. I hope I can afford one before they're illegal.

Buy a receiver now, while they are.

Absolutely. You can get the lower receiver (depending on where you're at) for about $150. You can buy all the other parts later.

Shop around. $150 for a stripped lower is still a bull shit price based on the current panic buying but its better than the $170s Im seeing out there. You should be able to find one for $100, but who knows when the market will correct its self, if ever to reach that price again. You can build an AR that is a kick ass AR (proper HP and MPI'ed Bolt, Carrier, and Barrel, barrel made out of Mil-spec 4150 CMV steel with a 1:7 twist) for about $1,000.00. The bitch is the parts. As for a lower, most of em are the same. You might want to see what Spikes Tactical has. Avoid Anvil Arms (not due to quality, but recent BS business practices). You can also get stripped lowers form Charles Daley Defense, Smith & Wesson, Rock River, Bushmaster, etc.. The key is to get good parts (I'd suggest skipping 2 stage triggers, but that's just a personal preference).

I bought the last receiver I knew of in Memphis the day after Obama's AG announced they'd seek a new AW ban. They're only now starting to appear again.

Also, I lost every goddamn thread that I ever started in here. The entire WF chronicle of me going from complete gun noob to "slightly not noob."
