Evangelical Christianity, better known as American Christianity, is such a hollow fucking religion. One of the (many) reasons I left the faith was because my reading of what Jesus said and how the people around me acted were two entirely different things. I don't mean people trying to do right and failing, I mean people literally just doing whatever the fuck they want and then using Jesus to cover for it. Jesus literally says not to pray in front of large groups because you're receiving your reward. It says it here in Matthew 6:5, which reads "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full." (NIV) They're so goddamned ignorant of their own Bible. Quite frankly, if you see an Evangelical Christian doing something, you should probably assume their Bible would have them do the opposite.
If you get one of these nut jobs on your flight, just blast Disney songs on your phone so that any videos they try to post get taken down by that litigious mouse.
I'd certainly like to verb the people who can't help but proselytize in enclosed spaces. Even at my most Evangelical, I wouldn't have done this kind of thing. It takes maybe two neurons rubbed together to create the thought "I wouldn't like it if some stranger got up and told me I was going to hell while trapped on the bus or on a plane."
I don’t know about other states but it is actually illegal in WA. We have pretty expansive free speech rules but also pretty strong protections for ‘captive audiences’. To the point where you aren’t allowed to preach, panhandle, signature gather or other such activity within 20ft of a bus stop as a person waiting there can’t just get up and move away without missing their bus. Same for train stations. You can do it at the entrances and exits but not on the platforms.
That sounds like reasonable policy which should be standard everywhere. There should always be places where people are free from social, economic, or religious busking.
