Yes, Kamala was chose because Joe had huge problems as a dixiecrat. He was against Bussing. He was against women's health issues as a catholic cult member. He was also against Gay marriage and trans healthcare and the presence of GLBT people in the military. Don't ask don't tell was keep it in the closet or we will kick you the fuck out. He had all of these problems, and he was the white guy who was supposed to keep Obama from going all black. He had to pick someone who would act as his shield against his right wing issues. If you want to call her the DEI person because she was there to represent POC and women, along with having a pretty decent view on GLBT rights, then that was what she was chosen for. No doubt about that. Now she has four years in the VP position which means she has merit and experience we can see. This is not 2020 and we have 4 years of seeing how she has been good as a VP. She has represented the US well, and has been her own person. She has actually stood against Joe with grace and demonstrated an ability to discuss and try to influence decisions. She has handled diplomatic missions with success. She has obviously had to help with the administration and back up Joe who was failing. Is their corruption? A hell of a lot less than Joe or Trump have shown. She does not have kids who have been floating around being connections to corporate entities and trying to lobby her. She has not put her kids into the administration while she worked as a lobbyist like Joe did with Hunter. She does not have kids who are using her position to get foreign business patents and positions like Hunter and Ivanka. She does not have 3 decades of corruption as the senator from MBNA, and 8 years of keeping the Obama admin in line so he did not do black things. She does not have a lifetime of shady business dealings and criminality. She is light years ahead of Trump or Joe and she is not even close to their corruption and insider dealings. So spare me the fucking whining that she might have some corruption around her. She is squeaky clean compared to the other two assholes. The only thing she seems to have is a few years as a california senator and 4 years as VP for any history of federal corruption.
There are 3,905 delegates pledged to Biden. It's hard to imagine them going to anyone but Harris. Certainly not en masse. The next largest bloc is Uncommitted, with 37 delegates. Who knows what they'll do. Their voters were mad at Biden for not throwing Israel to the wolves, which Harris won't do either. Maybe they'll vote for Rashida Tlaib or something? (All of the other Squad members have endorsed Harris.) You say this, and then you end with a big counter-example. There are many others. HW Bush was actually the second most popular candidate in the 1980 GOP primaries. Furthermore, balancing the ticket to win votes is not the same as a DEI pick. Kamala was never that popular with the demographics she was chosen to pander to (eg, Blacks). It wasn't practical ticket-balancing; it was pure woke vanity. And even so, none of this contradicts the main point of my prior post, which is that Kamala has never been popular and is of mediocre political talent. She's not where she is based on merit. That makes her a liability with key centrist voters.
