Aside from the fact that we have some hellacious wind moving through the valley right at this moment and I figure we might lose power soon, and that we're seeing some powerful storms already this year, I wanted to start a thread focusing on heavy storms, climate change, and all of the wonderful shit we're going to have to deal with going forward. Hell, we had several tornadoes land nearby the other night during that big Midwest storm, and even as the trees were bending over and touching power lines, there were people on the community message board saying "we don't get tornadoes in this town, relax." People get too complacent. Oh, and fuck Federal Farmer and anyone who believes climate change isn't man made and real. There. You've got Climate Derangement Syndrome. Climate "scientists" are all liberals, and liberals are dumb liars. Therefore, climate change isn't real. If we use less fossil fuel, that means the oil and coal companies make less money. That's not fair to the people who own those companies, so they have to pay workers less to make up the difference. Aren't you libturds supposed to care about workers? If you liberals were as smart as you claim to be, you could figure out a way to fix the weather without making anyone change what they're doing. But, you don't, because this is about control. The only reason you people keep going on about climate change is because you want to take away my gas stove and force me to get an induction stove which won't work my aluminum pots and pans. I don't want to buy new pots and pans! The teflon coating flaking off and getting in my food seeps into my brain and makes me stupid and angry, and I like being stupid and angry! STOP TRYING TO CONTROL ME BY TELLING ME I CAN'T BE STUPID AND ANGRY!!!
On a more serious note, though, last night's storm system that ran from Illinois to Texas was fucking wild. I watch Max Velocity on Youtube when these things come through because he is always on top of it, and I've heard him report a tornado several minutes before our local news reports it, and one of the things he mentioned last night was that he'd called several tornadoes, which ended up being tornadoes, well before the NWS was calling them. I believe part of that is because of the massive cuts in the national weather service and how we're just going to see this happen more and more often. So many people are going to die because of this.
NOAA websites set to go dark tonight due to lack of funding because of Trump administration cuts, and a canceled contract. Fortunately, the climate isn't changing at all, and severe weather events are highly unlikely in this day and age, so why would anyone need to keep track of archival climate data? Canceled contract means NOAA research websites slated to go dark Source: https://www.axios.com/2025/04/04/noaa-research-websites-go-dark-saturday-night
