    To quote an old friend....
    "Oh my."

Wow, who knew Nimoy actually had real class?

However, I don't. Were these ever leaked?

Yep, it's true. And if it's the version of 18 years ago, a nekkid Kim Catrall would be well worth checking out.

    Today's version, not so much.

Nah, she wasn't anything to look at even back then.

If you want good nekkid Kim Catrall, watch Porky's.

Odd. I'd heard at the time that it was Nick Meyer who ripped into Cattrall. As the director, he had a lot more to lose if the Suits found out he couldn't control his cast.

I do know it was Meyer who wanted to fire her because of the haircut...

It was her idea to get it [shaved] above her ears. Meyer was not amused.

I actually thought her head had been shaved and she was wearing a wig. I also thought that had been the intended look, since most Vulcan characters basically look like that.

Same here. I'm actually a little annoyed that all Vulcans and all Romulans have basically the same haircut.

The headband suggests that the back portion may have been a wig, but the "customization," shall we say, on the sides was Cattrall's idea, and she didn't bother consulting with anyone before she had it done.

When I saw the movie I never even noticed. I mean who cares?????

I can't recall anyone going, "OMFG she shaved her sideburns she doesn't look Vulcan enough! :ua:" and storming out of the theater.

And Meyers ain't got no business complaining. It was a good movie but let's keep phasers in the galley!!!! YEAH!!!!! Let's have bunk beds in an open type dorm for the enlisted!!!! :dayton:

For a nitpicker those things were a lot worse then her haircut.

(could you imagine a 5 year mission where you live in a open dorm with a hundred or more others in the same room?)

Oh, don't get me started on where Meyer went wrong with this movie... :bang:

But there's an understanding - sometimes in the contract, sometimes by oral agreement - that actors not make any radical changes to their appearance in mid-shoot, at least not without running them by the director first.

It was mid-shoot? I thought it was before shooting her scenes even started? Of course I can understand directors not wanting someone to change their appearance.

Oh and don't forget, "the things got to have a tail pipe."

Do they even know what the hell a tail pipe is? Uhura and gang must have been reading about cars on their breaks during Star Trek IV. Those were the scenes cut from the movie. "Scotty stopping hogging the magazine I need something to read on the toliet!" ;)

Easily the most disappointing of the canon Star Trek films. And for easily avoidable reasons. The worst was the way they fucked up the uniforms. Lt [-]Saavik[/-] Valeris, wearing a cadet's tunic and a commander's(?) rank insignia? :garamet:

If the director had that much of an issue with it they could have put her in a wig.

Kirk drove himself and spock around in an old car in "A Piece of the Action."

The whole crew went back in time and wandered around San Francisco in the '80s.

It's been a while, but IIRC, she turned up with the new 'do on the first day of shooting, and obviously it had to be maintained that way because it would have looked scruffy if she'd been told to let it grow out.

Not sure who's responsible for that line, but it's only one of a host of anachronistic nitpicks in that film. The way Chekov gathers forensic evidence after Gorkon's murdered was antiquated even for the 20th century. The search for the missing gravity boots. Hellllloo? Replicator? There's no need to jettison them into space or hide them in someone's locker. Toss 'em in the replicator, reduce 'em to basic molecules, and turn them into condoms or lobster dinners, fer cryin' out loud!

Meyer's problem is, he's obsessed with Sherlock Holmes. He can barely bring his thinking forward to the 21st century, much less the 23rd.

No doubt. But it's also a control thing. "I'm the director, this is my set, you'll do it my way!" Some directors yell, some wheedle. Meyer is apparently a yeller.

I'm also told that during the shooting of TWOK he became obsessed with the turbolift doors. They were literally operated by two grips standing behind them manually opening and shutting them.

Well, apparently Shatner moved too fast for them to get the doors open, and it required take after take after take with the doors opening too soon, not soon enough, Shatner clowning around bumping into them, etc.

Meyer finally snapped, ordered everybody but Shatner and the tech crew off the sound stage. "We're going to do this until we get it right!"

Shatner (with maybe some help from the grips :?:), jumped Meyer, stripped him down to his jockeys, closed the turbolift doors on him, and went to lunch.

Apparently he was yelling for quite a while before somebody happened by and let him out.

    Or so I've heard...

The ENT-A didn't have replicators, and if they did then doing that would have left a computer log.
