it makes sense to do it as the show ends - more people will be funneled into a tighter area as they exit, plus the security increases the further into the venue you get. Also factor in people panicking and crushing each other as they hurry to exit the venue. Additionally everyone's "guard" will be down after the show versus before because generally they think they are "out of the woods" if nothing crazy has happened during the show, so they guess there's nothing to worry about. Basic tactical thinking that millions worldwide are trained in/have ingrained in them. Luckily there weren't hundreds of fatalities & injuries!
