Mandaloriaaaan!! More than meets the eeeye!!! "Stop that!! ". NE VER!!!! Anyway, yeah, this is a thing. And they're rushing it into production before the Rey movie. https://www.darkhorizons.com/the-mandalorian-grogu-movie-set/
This is doomed for failure. There's a reason that GoT didn't finish with a movie. Hate the producers of GoT all you want, but at least they were quick to point out how bad of an idea that would be. Everyone is just going to wait for this thing to hit Disney+ and you're going to alienate the fans for making them wait for it. This is the kind of dumbass move that could sink the only part of their franchise that is working.
And this is a dumb fucking idea too. These stories are set like what? 30 years apart? I mean, presumably someone is probably already planning a Mando 2. So you're going to have mainline movies just bouncing around the timeline? The general audience are not super fans. Hell, they may not even be Star Wars fans. The people you need to bring in to make this a blockbuster success probably haven't even seen the Mandalorian. And then you're going to skip ahead to Rey's time period? Surely that's not going to confuse the average movie goer. And by the very nature of movies, Rey's stand alone will not make more than 75% of Rise of Skywalker. It just won't. I mean, that's a best case scenario. I'm sure it will undoubtedly make less than half of RoS's run. So this film strategy will confuse the general audience, piss off casual Mando fans, and finally bury the sequel trilogy? Great move, Disney.
Meh. The best thing that could have happened to this show would have been for Grogu to stay wth Luke. (Or Asoka)
The whole "Grogu the apprentice mandalorian" theme is stupid IMO. The original storyline of Jin recovering, and protecting, and bonding with "baby yoda" was well conceived and written - a solid plot line. But after he decided not to stay with Luke it's like they aren't really sure what to do with him except the occasional funny scene. I found the show much less appealing after that.
I don’t think we need any more. Seemed like the show ended perfectly. Aside from the Ahsoka show, I think Star Wars should take a long or permanent break. Of course Disney will never let that happen. Just like Star Trek they have to keep churning stuff out and hope some of it makes them money.
Ok. I can see that. But, it really didn’t make sense for the show to leave him with Luke spending 2 years creating a bond. Also, it leads to much richer storylines post Rey era. Someone could write an excellent story set 500 years into the future with a Mandalorian Jedi from an extinct species …
