Al Pacino, Andy Garcia, Anthony Hopkins, and Jessica Alba (along with a bunch of other names I don't recognize) in a film about the early days of auto racing. Now, this could be really good (and I say this as someone who doesn't like racing), if they point out just how ungodly dangerous the sport was back then, and how the people even building the cars were flying by the seat of their pants. You'll notice that in the shots of the cars racing, there's two people in the cars. One's the driver, the other's the mechanic. Yeah, if the car got a flat, he'd hop out and change the tire, or top off the oil if it was low, but he had other duties as well. Like running the fuel pump. They hadn't figured out how to make a fuel pump that could supply enough fuel to the engines at speed, so the mechanic would have to periodically manually operate a pump to pressurize the fuel tank, so that the car could do 100+ MPH. Most of the people designing and building the cars weren't engineers, either. They were tinkerers, who generally had to figure out things by experience, and not by working out a bunch of math. Also, the budgets weren't like they are in modern racing, so you couldn't have every part custom fabricated. The folks who knew what off-the-shelf parts could get the job done, had an advantage over those who had to work it out via trial-and-error.
