At which point they will disappear in the wind, so this is effectively a lack of immigration enforcement. Just getting clear on our terms here.
Let's assume for the moment that everyone getting rounded up by ICE is actually an undocumented immigrant (which they're not, but let's say they are). If simply disappearing were that easy, don't you think they would have done it before ICE came after them in the first place?
They can cloak, and phase, and shrink down to the quantum realm, and billions of them live in my gums, and AAAAGGHHHH!!!!!
I didn't say easy or 100% successful. AndI doubt you are fleeing if your citizenship is easily proven.
Considering actual citizens and legal residents are being detained/deported, yeah, there's residents plenty of reason to run.
Yep. An American born citizen and veteran got tear gassed and arrested on his way to work. Held for three days without being able to make a phone call or talk to a lawyer. Two of those days he was naked and in solitary confinement with the lights on. He missed his daughter’s birthday. https://newsletter.ofthebrave.org/p/im-a-us-citizen-and-a-veteran-ice I’ll let you guess if he looks like Uncle Albert or is a bit darker.
You concede the running, you concede the motivation to detain. So you're back to the question of whether you want immigration law enforced amd how you expect that to look.
You say "concede" like you're making a point. My father and I both now carry our passport cards, for what good it does. This morning, walking my daughter to her bus stop, I realized I forgot my wallet and mentally calculated how fast I could run back to my home if needed. That's not the sign of a free country. And the fact that you think that truly qualifies as "immigration law enforcement" is exactly why I want to get my family out of here.
US Citizen Says ICE Detained Her, Said Her Passport ‘Isn’t Real’ - Newsweek https://share.google/GAy15Vw2U5Kbe35kL So, @Uncle Albert , tell me how this is proper immigration enforcement. Go ahead. I'm waiting. @Paladin, tell me this seems completely normal in a democratic, free society.
DHS Debunks New York Times False Reporting: DHS Does NOT Deport U.S. Citizens NY Times reporting false news. Must be a Tuesday.
The news: "The police are murdering people." The police: "We investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing."
Well technically they don't arrest them, since they are actually just detaining them without charges or due process.
Dude you are quoting regime propaganda with no evidence as evidence that the regime is doing nothing wrong. And they can’t even fucking do that properly. What the fuck does this even mean?!?! “During the encounter, Kenny Laynez who was part of a group of illegal aliens that resisted arrest during a traffic stop.” During the encounter… WHAT?!?! What did the American do?!?!? How do you not just end a sentence like that but end a paragraph and end the explanation for why he wasn’t an innocent American falsely thrown in jail for being dark?!?! As usual I have to ask: Did you actually read what you posted? ALL of it?
In this case it's also a case of goalpost-moving — responding to reports of citizens being detained and harassed by saying "we absolutely are not deporting citizens!" I doubt the people saying "golly gee, it's perfectly fine for innocent people to get harassed, scooped up in raids, and held for hours or days, as long as they're released eventually" would bo so casual about it if they were the ones in the crosshairs.
